LIVE: Moment Iranian missile explodes ‘near US troops’ in Saudi Arabia

Iran has launched a series of retaliatory strikes across the Middle East today, with five missiles intercepted in Saudia Arabia and ten shot down in Qatar

Meanwhile, Sir Keir Starmer promised Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman that the UK ‘stood ready’ to back the defence of the Middle Eastern country. 

A Downing Street spokesperson confirmed additional British helicopters, fighter jets and a destroyer were being deployed to the region and that Britain was ready to support Saudi Arabia ‘should it be needed.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched its twenty-third round of strikes, a statement from the country’s news agency Tasmin has said.

It comes after the IDF said they were working to intercept incoming attacks after reporting missiles launched from Iran towards Israel had been detected.

Alerts were issued to mobile phones in areas which could be impacted by the country’s Home Front Command, the IDF said.

Iran used drone attacks in residential areas of Bahrain, CENTCOM claims

Brad Cooper, the head of the US military’s Middle East-based Central Command (CENTCOM) has said Iran fired seven attack drones in residential areas of Bahrain yesterday evening.

‘This is unacceptable and will not go unanswered,” he said in a statement, while adding Tehran had targeted 12 countries in retaliatory strikes..

‘We will continue working with regional partners to address this threat to innocent people across the region.’

Protesters emerge outside Israeli embassy in west London

A group of pro-Israel Iranians have gathered outside Israel’s embassy in Kensington, west London

Pictures have emerged online showing a crowd celebrating Israel and the US’s attacks on Iran, waving Israel’s and Iran’s pre-Islamic regime flag.

The march is said to have been organised by Stop The Hate.

A counter-march has also been orchestrated near the embassy, holding a sign which reads: ‘“International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network’.

Some were seen holding images of Iran’s deceased Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

Putin has spoken on the phone with the Iranian President

The Kremlin leader has talked with Iran’s leader Masoud Pezehkian, on the phone, a statement from Putin’s office said.

During the call, the Russian leader voices his condolences over the death of Iran’s supreme leader as well as other officials and civilians in the country.

Putin voiced once again that the conflict must end immediately and that the nations must come to a diplomatic resolution.

Iran’s President expressed his gratitude for the Kremlin’s backing and also shared a detailed report of the ongoing developments in his country, the statement added.

Both nations have agreed to continue communicating with one another, the Kremlin confirmed.

Breaking:Iran’s United Nations envoy says Trump’s comments impede Iran’s sovereignty

Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s ambassador to the UN said Donald Trump’s remarks about choosing the country’s next leader breach the principle of non-interference.

‘Iran is a sovereign and independent state,’ Iravani stated. ‘It does not accept, and will never allow, a foreign power to interfere.’

Speaking to the UN Security Council in New York, he said the diplomatic bloc must ‘act now, without delay’.

‘Failure to act will have catastrophic consequences. Today, it is Iran. Tomorrow it could be any [UN] member state.’

He also accused both the US and Israel of ‘clear war crimes and crimes against humanity’.

Macron condemns Israel’s ‘unacceptable attack’ on UN site in Lebanon

French President Emmanuel Macron condemned Israel’s ‘unacceptable attack’ of a UN site in Lebanon earlier today.

He said the following via X:

I met with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Charaa as well as Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.

France is working with its partners to prevent the conflict from spreading further in the region.

The sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and Lebanon, as well as of every country in the region, must be respected.

The ongoing destabilizations leave no room for terrorism. France will ensure this. While the United Nations Force in Lebanon plays a key role in stabilization in southern Lebanon, I strongly condemn the unacceptable attack that struck members of its contingent today.

France will remain committed to it.

Sir Keir Starmer vows to support the defence of Saudi Arabia

Sir Keir Starmer has promised Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman that the UK is ready to back the defence of his country.

The Prime Minister told Prince bin Salman that the UK ‘stood ready’ to help defend the country.

A Downing Street spokesperson said:

The Prime Minister spoke to his royal highness Mohammed bin Salman, crown prince of Saudi Arabia this evening, following the Iranian regime’s strikes on the kingdom and its partners.

The leaders also discussed stepping up intelligence cooperation to support defensive operations and protect civilians.

Turning to energy resilience, the crown prince outlined the steps the kingdom had taken to boost global oil supply and support market stability.

The leaders agreed to stay in close touch over the coming days and weeks.’

They also stated that extra British helicopters, fighter jets and a destroyers were being deployed to the region.

They added that Britain ‘stood ready to support the defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia should it be needed’.

Karoline Leavitt’s brutal swipe at conservatives against Trump’s war on Iran: ‘This President lives in the real world’

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt took a swipe at members of President Donald Trump’s MAGA base who have criticized his military action in Iran.

‘X is not real life,’ Leavitt said. ‘This President lives in the real world.’

Trump says defense contractors agreed to ‘quadruple production’ of weapons

Donald Trump said his meetings with US defense contractors was ‘very good,’ and they have agreed to ‘quadruple production’ of weapons.

‘We just concluded a very good meeting with the largest U.S. Defense Manufacturing Companies where we discussed Production and Production Schedules,’ he wrote on Truth Social.

‘They have agreed to quadruple Production of the “Exquisite Class” Weaponry in that we want to reach, as rapidly as possible, the highest levels of quantity.’

The son of Bazelel Smotrich, Israel’s finance minister, has been injured in a conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon, the country’s defence minister said.

Israel Katz, Israel’s defence minister, said the following via X:

Strengthening Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and his family, and wishing a speedy recovery to his fighter son who was wounded in Lebanon while carrying out his duties against the terrorist organization Hezbollah.
