Spotify is BLASTED for its 20th anniversary disco ball logo,
Spotify has been blasted for its new logo, which was released to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
The logo features a green, glittering disco ball in place of the usual lime green icon.
While the change is temporary, it has not gone down well with many Spotify users.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one user called the new logo the ‘biggest downgrade in history.’
Another vented: ‘Whoever designed this needs to be fired immediately.’
And one joked: ‘The new Spotify logo looks like a freakin beetle.’
The backlash hasn’t gone unnoticed by Spotify, which has now confirmed that the regular logo will be back soon.
‘It’s our birthday so we’re in our party gear, but we’ll be back to normal when the lights go down. Your regularly scheduled Spotify icon returns soon,’ it explained in response to one complaint.

Spotify was founded on 23 April 2006 by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon, before launching to the public in 2008.
To celebrate its 20th birthday, Spotify quietly changed its iPhone app logo at the end of last week.
The special version features a dark green, mirrored disco ball, with sparkles glinting off the edges.
While this was simply a bit of fun, many users claim the mirrored panels make it look like the app is loading.
Taking to X, one user explained: ‘This is one of those design / marketing moments where I just scratch my head.
‘There are huge readability & brand issues. – Different color green – The green is too dark against the black – disco ball texture looks pixelated on a tiny phone screen.
He added: ‘A kinda dumb mistake.’
Another said: ‘I didn’t know it was a disco ball the entire time after the update!!! From the Home Screen it looked like a shield or something!!!’

To celebrate its birthday, Spotify also launched a new nostalgic experience within the Spotify app
And one added: ‘I thought it was stuck in that weird state of installing an update but not quite ready to launch yet.’
Thankfully, Spotify appears to have taken the feedback on board, and is now preparing to return to the basic logo.
It reassured one user: ‘We know glitter is not for everyone. Our temp glow up ends soon.’
