Prince William gives Eugene Levy Windsor Castle tour

  • ‘The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy’ will be on Apple TV+ from October 3

Prince William has described 2024 as the ‘hardest year I’ve ever had’ during a chat with Eugene Levy for the new series of the Schitt’s Creek actor’s travel show.

The Prince of Wales, who invited the star on a tour of Windsor Castle, said ‘life is sent to test us’ and ‘being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are’.

The actor also asked William: ‘What do you do when you’re home?’ The Prince said: ‘Sleep. When you’ve got three small children, sleep is an important part of my life.’

William took Levy around the castle for his Apple TV+ show The Reluctant Traveler, joking: ‘We provide this service for everyone. We do personalised tours everywhere.’

In a preview clip released today ahead of the episode on October 3, Levy was seen taking an open top bus tour around London, saying: ‘Never felt more like a tourist.’

Levy, 78, was then shown being presented with an official letter in his hotel room on Kensington Palace paper, which he read and showed to the camera before laughing.

The letter, dated January 2025, says: ‘Dear Eugene, I heard that your travels have brought you to the UK and I wondered if you might like to see Windsor Castle?

‘If you’re free at 10 tomorrow, why don’t you pop down to the castle for a private tour. Would be great to see you! With best wishes.’ It was then signed by William.

After going on a tour of the castle, they are shown sitting down for a pint in the corner of a pub – with Levy opting for a Guinness and William with a beer.

William then tells Levy: ‘I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had.

‘You know, life is sent to test us, as well. And being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.’

News of William’s cameo on the show was first revealed earlier this month, when another trailer showed the Prince joking about getting drunk with Levy.

While walking in Windsor Great Park, the Prince jokingly asks Levy: ‘Was getting drunk with Prince William on your bucket list?’ The star replies: ‘That’s the bucket.’

Last November, William described the year of 2024 which saw his wife the Princess of Wales and father King Charles III being treated for cancer as ‘brutal’.

He added in an interview that it had ‘probably been the hardest year in my life’ and a ‘dreadful’ experience.

Kate also previously talked about her cancer journey, describing in a video how the episode had been ‘incredibly tough for us as a family’.

The King’s cancer diagnosis was announced in February last year and he has received treatment for an undisclosed form of the disease as an outpatient.

William has spent the past few days in Scotland after flying to Balmoral to spend time alone with the King on a ‘father-and-son mini-break’ for the third consecutive year.

‘The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy: Living the Royal Life in the UK’ will be on Apple TV+ from October 3. New episodes are out weekly until the October 31 finale
