Harris Dickinson is given a huge boost in James Bond betting odds

Harris Dickinson is now one of bookies’ favourites to become the new James Bond.

The actor, 28, who will play John Lennon in The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event in 2028, has been named as one of the frontrunners to replace Daniel Craig.

Having been as big as 9/1 last week, Harris is now just 8/5 to be the new 007, with Callum Turner continuing to lead the way at 4/5. Every other name is now 5/1 or more.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: ‘Harris Dickinson has a busy few years ahead if the latest odds are anything to go by… he could well be swapping between John Lennon and James Bond.’

Bookies’ predictions on who will play Bond are changing by the day, with Jacob Elordi one of the most recent favourites due to his smouldering role in the romance Wuthering Heights. He is at 5/1 while Aaron Taylor-Johnson is 6/1.

Other names have included Iris Elba, Theo James, Jonathan Bailey, James Norton, Jack Lowden and Henry Cavill.

As of now, only a director has been linked to the upcoming Bond project, with Dune’s Denis Villeneuve signed on for the movie.

The French-Canadian filmmaker will also serve as executive producer of the project alongside Tanya Lapointe.

The Bond franchise is no stranger to a lengthy hiatus – there was a six-year gap between 1989’s Licence to Kill, the final Timothy Dalton film, and 1995’s GoldenEye, the first to star Pierce Brosnan.

The iconic British mainstay has previously been limited to its big-budget blockbusters, with producing roles kept within the Barbara Broccoli family since the first film in 1962.

But last year the Broccoli family have handed over creative control over to Amazon MGM Studios – which was formed when Amazon bought Bond’s parent studio in 2022 – after 30 years.

Harris will star alongside Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr in four new films about The Beatles.

A strong supporting cast includes Aimee Lou Wood as Harrison’s model wife Pattie Boyd, Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono and James Norton as the band’s manager, Brian Epstein.

Bookmakers’ odds on the next James Bond

Callum Turner – 4/5

Harris Dickinson – 8/5

Jacob Elordi – 5/1

Aaron Taylor-Johnson – 6/1

Theo James – 10/1

There will also be appearances from Mia McKenna-Bruce as Starr’s first wife, Maureen Starkey, and Harry Lloyd as George Martin, the record producer with whom The Beatles worked on all of their eleven studio albums.

The movies will each take the perspective of one member of The Beatles as they evolve from unknowns in Liverpool in the early 1960s to becoming the biggest band in the world and then breaking up in 1970.

It’s the first time that surviving Beatles McCartney and Starr, and the families of the late Lennon and Harrison, have given the rights to feature films about them.
