Actor Ioan Gruffud claims that his ex-wife Alice Evans has breached her restraining order ‘5,000 times’ in the past three years – and is seeking to have her permanently gagged from talking about him and banned from ever contacting him or his new wife at a hearing in August.
The Fantastic Four actor, who announced at the weekend that he and new wife Bianca Wallace are expecting a baby, filed documents at court last month.
He was initially granted a three-year restraining order in August 2022 and under its terms, Ms Evans is not allowed to contact him or Ms Wallace and has to stay away from them. The actress is also forbidden from harassing them by making posts on social media.
Now he wants to extend the order indefinitely and asked how many times he believes the order has been breached he has indicated: ‘Approximately 5,000 times.’ That would amount to an average of 138 times a month…. or four times a day.
Both he and Ms Wallace are expected to give evidence in the hearing in August. It’s understood that Ms Evans denies any harassment and will be asking to have the order lifted.
In a separate action, next month the former couple will also come to court in a hearing to determine child and spousal support which they haven’t been able to agree.
Evans says that for 22 months she received nothing from her former husband. After an interim judgement last year she started getting support from Gruffudd which totals $4,500 a month which she says is not enough to cover basic expenses for her and the girls.
She was facing eviction on June 1st over unpaid rent for the apartment she shared with their children Ella and Elsie in Los Angeles.
Ms Evans said in a filing that she had asked Gruffudd for financial help but none was forthcoming. In a filing into court last month she said: ‘I was present via remote means at Petitioner’s deposition on March 18, 2025. Petitioner testified that he believes that I am hiding money alleging that I ‘overpaid’ the nanny in early 2022.
‘Based solely upon this allegation, Petitioner testified that he does not believe that I am really facing eviction and secretly do have sufficient funds to pay my monthly rent. He went on to testify that I was faking eviction in an effort to make him look bad and negatively impact his public image, and even, quite bizarrely, to ‘increase Alice’s personal exposure.’
‘Apart from the fact that this is simply untrue, it is both shocking and offensive that Petitioner would stoop to such a level as to accuse me of faking not only my own impending homelessness and level of poverty but that of the two children we share who he has chosen not to see.’
She added: ‘Through counsel, I informed Petitioner that the children and I would not have a place to live effective June 1, 2025. I made several proposals to the Petitioner requesting that he assist us in securing an apartment… Every single proposal of mine was rejected by Petitioner. Instead he offered me a ridiculous settlement to the entire case, which was very prejudicial to me and would have resulted in me and the children being completely without money in a few months. Petitioner’s proposal was confidential therefore I cannot divulge the actual offer except to say that it would have been impossible for us to survive.’
She ended up launching a GoFundMe to pay for moving costs and a deposit on a new flat
In 2023 Gruffudd filed court documents that accused his former wife of setting up fake Twitter accounts to brand him and Ms Wallace ‘child abusers’.
Gruffudd also claimed that Ms Evans screamed at him outside his Los Angeles home and called him a ‘f****** abuser’ in front of Ella. He said: ‘Alice has slipped up a number of times, making clear the ‘anonymous’ accounts are her accounts.’ He also said his ex yelled abuse at him outside his LA home in front of their daughter.
In 2024, Ms Evans said that she regretted her behaviour immediately following the end of their marriage in 2021.
She said in a statement: ‘I understand why the Court issued the DVRO (restraining order), and I wish I had never sent the messages or published the social media posts.’
She adds: ‘I was acting out of emotional anguish caused by the unexpected end of our marriage and Ioan’s rather quick public announcement of a new romantic relationship on social media, which our eldest daughter discovered via an Instagram post.’
The couple met on the set of the film 102 Dalmatians, and married in Mexico in 2007.
After the wedding he pursued his career, starring in the hit film Fantastic Four, while she raised their daughters. She had struggled to conceive and had gone through IVF. In her recent filing she says that in some good years he would take home $1million, in others more like $500,000.
They split in 2021, with Evans saying it came as a complete shock to her. Later that year he announced that he was in a romantic relationship with Bianca Wallace, an aspiring actress from Australia who had been an extra on the set of his TV series Harrow.
On Father’s Day, Gruffudd announced that he and Ms Wallace are expecting a baby. A newspaper reported that Evans was ‘fuming’ about the news, with sources claiming it was a ‘gut punch’ to the star.
On Tuesday Evans wrote on Instagram: ‘I am not fuming. Why on earth would I be? And even if I were, how the hell would anybody know?’
Describing the news as ‘beautiful’, Alice continued: ‘And as for those who sent me nasty messages or made nasty comments online please remember that a baby announcement is a beautiful thing that brings much happiness and you’re sullying it with your hate. Shame on you. The baby deserves better.’
