King Charles III arrived to Capitol Hill on Tuesday afternoon ahead of his historic speech to congress.
According to Politico, the British monarch is expected to speak on the importance of enduring security alliances and ‘shared transatlantic values’ between the US and UK. King Charles III will become the first royal in 35 years to deliver the address.
California Representative Ro Khanna applied pressure to the monarch as he expects him to address Epstein survivors in his speech.
‘I hope his flunkies don’t take out the acknowledgement from his text and I fully expect the king to be acknowledging the survivors – the Epstein survivors – in his speech to our nation and Congress this afternoon,’ Khanna said.
Charles’ brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office amid the probe into Epstein files.
President Trump and First Lady Melania rolled out the red carpet for King Charles and Queen Camilla earlier this afternoon, welcoming them on their four-day state visit with pomp and pageantry.
The royal pair have a jam-packed schedule for their second day in Washington, DC, which includes a bilateral meeting with Donald Trump and a state dinner.
The visit is the most important foreign trip of Charles’s reign so far, but it now has the added element of heightened security concerns after an attempted assassination of the President on Saturday at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
