Iran launches ballistic missiles and drones at UAE and Israel: Live

Iran has launched a series of ballistic missiles and drones at the United Arab Emirates and Israel as it furiously retaliates after an overnight bombardment which left Tehran burning.

Explosions have been heard over Tel Aviv, with missile warnings in the UAE, as Iran hits out following the Israeli attack on oil depots which caused a ‘river of fire’ to engulf its capital.

At least six people are injured in Israel, including one seriously, as a result of the barrage.

It follows US President Donald Trump’s pledge to dial up the attacks as the war in the Middle East entered its second week.

Meanwhile Mr Trump last night targeted UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer – insisting ‘we don’t need people that join Wars after we’ve already won!’

The British Government is now considering sending an aircraft carrier to the region.

Mr Trump also responded to questions regarding the US’s willingness to send ground troops to Iran.

He said last night that the soldiers’ deployment ‘would be a great thing’, but cautioned: ‘Right now, we’re just decimating them’.

‘There would have to be a very good reason. I would say if we ever did that they would be so decimated that they wouldn’t be able to fight at the ground level,’ he said.

New wave of missiles over UAE as residents told to seek shelter

A new series of missiles are targeting the United Arab Emirates.

The UAE’s Ministry of Interior said air defences ‘are now dealing with a missile threat’.

‘Please stay in a safe place and follow the warnings and updates on official websites,’ it added.

Four people have killed in Iranian attacks on the UAE since last Saturday, the country’s defence ministry said.

The UAE has detected hundreds of missiles and almost 1,500 drones, the vast majority of which have been destroyed, it added

At least 10 explosions heard above Tel Aviv

Explosions have been heard over Tel Aviv as Iran sends a series of missiles at Israel in retaliation for overnight strikes which left Tehran burning.

‘A short while ago, the IDF identified missiles launched from Iran towards the territory of the State of Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,’ the military said.

Military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said Iran’s ‘firepower has dropped dramatically all across the region, not only towards Israel’.

The missiles come after Israel bombarded Tehran overnight, hitting oil depots and causing enormous blazes.

Dark clouds of smoke billowed across the Iranian capital on Sunday morning.

A fresh round of rockets have also been sent into Israel from Lebanon, with rocket sirens blaring in in Karmiel, in northern Israel, and in surrounding towns.

The skies over Tehran turned a disquieting red and filled with acrid smoke after several oil and fuel depots were blown up across the Iranian capital.

Iran’s foreign minister has insisted his country’s attacks on US targets are a response to a war imposed by the United States and Israel.

‘This is not the war of our choice. This is imposed on us by the United States and Israel,’ Abbas Araghchi added.

He said Iran’s military actions were directed at US bases, installations and assets – even if they are located in neighbouring countries.

Kuwait tower fire has been contained, say authorities

An enormous fire which engulfed Kuwait City tower following drone strikes in the early hours on Sunday morning has been contained, according to local authorities.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Information said firefighting teams ‘managed to combat the fire’ by containing it and preventing its spread.

The tower is a government site, operated by the Public Institution for Social Security, and the department said it had been targeted, ‘resulting in material damage to the building’.

It comes after the Kuwait army said it was dealing ‘with a wave of hostile drones’ including an attack on fuel tankers at the Kuwait International Airport.
