Chelsea launch audacious bid to snatch Antoine Semenyo

Chelsea have launched a shock bid to land Bournemouth talisman Antoine Semenyo.

The Blues are emerging as late contenders for the winger, available for £65million in the January transfer window, and are attempting to blow competition out of the water.

Daily Mail Sport understands that Chelsea came to the table in an audacious swoop on Monday evening after the 25-year-old had spent a day off weighing up his options.

Manchester United and Manchester City are both keen on landing Semenyo when the market opens next week. Liverpool have previously done due diligence on him too, with Tottenham having registered interest.

The Ghana international was born in west London and has an affiliation with Chelsea, whose approach may have impacted his decision-making process.

Semenyo is almost certain to leave the Vitality Stadium before his release clause expires in the second week of January after a stellar 18 months in the Premier League.

Scoring 11 goals last season, Semenyo was on the radar of a number of top clubs last summer and has followed that up with eight goals in 16 appearances this term.

Semenyo’s contract with Bournemouth runs until 2030, and boss Androni Iraola has said the forward remains fully focused on his job despite the noise around his future.

The Ghanaian star – who is not at AFCON after his nation’s failure to qualify – joined the Cherries from Bristol City in 2023 for £10.5million and has since established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic and exciting attackers.

Chelsea’s summer signing Jamie Gittens was not in the squad that drew away at Newcastle United at the weekend.
