Boy, 9, has Christmas ‘ruined’ after delivery driver bins his present

This is the moment a delivery driver ruined Christmas for a nine-year-old boy by putting his present in a bin which was later collected.

All nine-year-old Louis Tremblay had wanted for Christmas was a flip book from US YouTuber Andymation.

But after putting the prized present in the bin, the delivery driver walked away, without putting a note through the family’s door.

A few days later the bin was collected along with Louis’s Christmas present.

Mum Lauren said: ‘Louis is obsessed by flipbooks and Andymation. The flipbook, which cost over £50, was the only thing he asked for for Christmas.

‘We had been waiting and waiting for it to arrive, when we finally discovered what had happened we were stunned.

‘We broke the news to Louis and he was in floods of tears. ‘

The kit is only on sale in the US but Louis’s parents got family to buy it and have it shipped to their home in Bransgore.

Lauren said: ‘We were so pleased but as family had bought it we didn’t get any get any of the messages regarding delivery.

‘We thought it was taking a long time to arrive so we checked with our relatives.

‘They said they had been notified it had been delivered on December 8.’

Lauren and husband Adam checked their video doorbell footage for that day and watched in horror as the delivery driver strolled up their path, opened the lid of the bin near the front door and put the present inside.

She said: ‘We were horrified. He never rung the doorbell, and didn’t put a card in.

‘We had no idea it was in there.’

Adam has since been trying to contact delivery firm Evri.

She said: ‘We have tried ringing and sent emails but were told the tracking number was invalid.

‘It was just awful having to tell Louis what had happened – he was devastated.’

Her family in the US have been refunded the cost of the present and have opened a complaint with Evri.

But the kit is sold out and only available for reorder at the end of February.

Lauren said: ‘I just can’t understand why you would put a parcel in the bin, it could be being collecting that day for all you would know.’

Evri has been contacted for comment.
