Scarlett Moffatt says fiancé has quit his job to be a stay-at-home dad

Scarlett Moffatt has revealed her fiancé Scott Dobinson has quit his job as a policeman to be a stay-at-home father to their son Jude, so she can return to work.

The Gogglebox star, 35, exclusively told Daily Mail that Scott, 37, has taken a two-year career hiatus to be with Jude, two, so she go back to her TV gigs.

Scarlett already has a line of projects lined-up, including starring on Strictly Come Dancing’s Christmas Special and headlining Northwich’s Christmas pantomime.

It wouldn’t be possible without the help and sacrifice of Scott, who she credits for giving her the opportunity to return doing what she loves.

She said: ‘I feel really lucky because for the first two years that Jude was born, I decided to take two years off. So I was just in full-time mum mode, it was the best.

‘And then when Jude turned two, I was like “okay, I need to go back into work now” so I can chat to adults, cause I missed that.

‘And also, you know, this industry’s so difficult, I knew that if I took any longer people might be like, “oh, there’s that girl that used to sometimes be on the telly”.

‘So then Scott, my partner, he’s wonderful, he’s now took a two-year career break from the police. So he’s now in full-time dad mode, which is lovely. We’re somehow managing because of that, and we’ve got great grandparents too.’

The TV personality got engaged to the policeman in 2023 just months after welcoming their son Jude and are set to wed next year.

Since her I’m A Celebrity victory in 2016, Scarlett has built a thriving TV career alongside family life with Scott and Jude.

Scarlett also declared she has never had a nanny or put Jude into nursery because of the family support around her.

‘I’ve never had a nanny and he’s never been to nursery, but it’s not because I think that those things are bad or anything’, she added.

‘I think we’ve just been so lucky that I’ve either been at home or he’s with my mum and dad, or Scott’s mum and dad or Scott.

‘People aren’t always in that privileged position where they live like 10 minutes away from all of the family. I think it’s a very northern thing that we all sort of still live in the same village and stuff, but I can understand why people have ties and things.’

After returning to work, Scarlett has joined forced with Three UK to reward the unsung heroes of Christmas.

Three is celebrating the ‘Chief Christmas Officers’ with a festive pop-up event designed to reward loved ones this season and offer a well-deserved seasonal timeout – thanks to the mobile network’s Three+ rewards app.

On her decision to team up with the brand, Scarlett revealed it was her first ever job when she was aged 20.

She said: ‘This is what I love about being an ambassador for Three. So weirdly, I actually used to work for Three, when I was 20. I used to sell, sell all the phones. I loved it. So whenever I get to work with them again, it’s just the best.’

‘What I love is just about Three in general actually, is that they’re always sort of like, just love celebrating people, and so this season is all about celebrating the doers of Christmas, so like your chief Christmas officers, and as I am one of them, I thought, well, that’s, that’s lovely.’

She added: ‘I absolutely love Christmas! With endless lists on my phone, in my bag, and on the fridge, I feel like a proper Chief Christmas Officer, keeping everything running smoothly.

‘So, if you’re like me and you could do with a little break from Christmas planning, and a little more pampering for yourself, Three’s got you covered. The Give A Little S’more pop-up is a perfect excuse to relax, rewind and feel rewarded.’

Three customers can enjoy more perks and rewards this December on the Three+ rewards app, including a free bag of chocolate coins, cinema tickets at Cineworld, a barista-made drink at Caffè Nero and £10 off at Iceland.

Three+ customers can enjoy exclusive perks all year long via the rewards app.
