Meghan risks being called ‘out-of-touch’ AGAIN as she posts reel

Meghan risks being called ‘out-of-touch’ AGAIN as she posts reel,

Meghan Markle risked being called ‘out-of-touch’ once again after she posted a highlight reel of New York featuring rows of shoes and clothes.

The Duchess of Sussex showed off her lavish trip to the Big Apple in a wide-ranging Instagram post, having previously claimed that her attempt to be like other families led her to attend yoga and fitness classes with up to 40 to 50 strangers.

The Reel honed in on the luxurious nature of her holiday, which saw Meghan switch her sprawling $14.65million Montecito mansion for the bright lights of the east coast.

One shot shows an army of pointed toe designer heels lined up, colour coded, on the floor.

The next sees a rack of expensive tops and leather bags before the camera pans to yet more clothes, in the form of rows upon rows of trousers arranged neatly on hangers.

It is revealed that this monumental haul is not in the window of one of Manhattan’s swankiest department stores, but in the apartment where Meghan is staying, with Prince Harry suddenly appearing in the background, barefoot and with a beaming grin.

The Duke of Sussex is seen wearing grey track pants and a grey t-shirt as he poses in the doorway.

Next, Meghan gives an insight into her makeup routine, zooming in on the array of cosmetics bottles and brushes on her dressing table as she is spotted applying bright pink lipstick in the mirror.

It comes after Meghan hit back at critics saying her Netflix show made her look out of touch and ‘tone deaf’.

In March, she revealed she is friends with ‘stay-at-home’ mums and ‘working women with normal jobs and she and Prince Harry are trying to be like other families with children at school.

The Duchess also revealed how she goes to yoga and fitness classes with 40 to 50 others – sometimes on her own or with friends – and she recently greeted a stranger next to her with a fist bump and a ‘well done’.

Meghan said: ‘Once you know us, I think you want us to have the same normalcy as parents and for our children as they do, despite however unique our situation is.’

‘I have a couple of girlfriends up here – these are stay-at-home moms and working women with normal jobs, not in the public eye,’ the Duchess of Sussex, 43, told People of her life in California.

‘We went from just connecting through our kids to having girls’ nights out or doing Pilates together.’

One mother from the school run has said Meghan recently came to a child’s birthday party where she was ‘chilling’ with parents and talked about ‘mom stuff and life’.

‘You can see that, as a unit, they’re all very connected,’ the friend briefed People.

And the former Suits star says she texts Archie and Lilibet’s classes to organise holiday and weekend playdates, saying that the people of Montecito have embraced her, Harry and their two children.

Speaking to People, the Sussexes’ favoured publication in the US, Meghan said she feels part of the community in Montecito.

It came after With Love, Meghan was widely panned and branded ‘out of touch’.

Speaking about the ups and downs of launching her Netflix show and the As Ever brand she said: ‘I appreciate everyone who gave me the grace to make mistakes and figure it out and also to be forgiving with myself through that. It’s a learning curve.’

People describes Meghan as ‘just another person’ when attending a fitness class locally.

‘I go to group classes that sometimes have 40 to 50 people in them and just walk in like, “Hi!”,’ Meghan said.

‘Of course, at the beginning, that felt like a lot. By the way, I think anybody walking into a yoga class with 50 people when you’re one of the last people that walk in and everyone looks up, it’s going to feel a little uncomfortable.’

She went on: ‘The other day in class, I was there by myself – sometimes I go with girlfriends, but I went by myself – and in the middle of the class they said, “Great, tell the person on your mat next to you that they’re doing a great job, give them a fist pump”.

‘And I looked over and there was someone over there, and I was like [miming a fist bump], “Well done!” and then I looked to the other side and there was someone else and I went, “Nicely done! Come on, guys!”.

‘I mean, that’s part of how you connect. I love it. It’s the best,’ she said.

‘I had missed it. It’s awesome.’

Meghan kept busy during her recent trip to New York, meeting old friends including Gloria Steinem, with whom she formed a ‘sisterhood’ over their shared passion for liberal politics and women’s rights in the United States.

The Duchess looked immaculate in a stone trench-style coat with £525 adjustable Gancini belt and dark sunglasses for the visit.

She was walked through the gate by her personal private bodyguard and smiled to him as he held open the door of her waiting 6.8litre gas-guzzling Cadillac Escalade SUV.

Meghan was without Prince Harry on the trip – shortly after the Sussexes’ were crowned Humanitarians of the Year at a gala in the city last week.

Gloria had herself presented Meghan with a ‘Women of Vision’ award in 2023 and has said her friend is a ‘great human being’ who is ‘smart, funny and devoted to social issues’.

Meghan and ‘Glo’, as the former Suits star calls her, bonded in 2020 over their shared interest in promoting women’s rights and equal voting rights ahead of the Presidential Election that year.

They also gave a joint interview to Vogue US after the Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade, putting abortion rights at risk for women around the US.

Things were slightly more awkward last week, when Prince Harry appeared to nervously smile after Meghan seemed to ask him to move his hand off her bottom, as footage emerged from a strange New York red carpet appearance.

The Duchess seemed to look uncomfortable as she quickly broke away from her husband as they posed for photographers ahead of being crowned ‘humanitarians of the year’.

Meghan glanced up at Harry who nervously smiled before the husband and wife wrapped their arms around each other’s waist.

The gaffe was the latest of seemingly awkward exchanges between the married couple at the glitzy ceremony at Spring Studios.

Traffic in the Big Apple had meant the Sussexes arrived late for the Project Healthy Minds gala.

And Harry appeared to be in a rush, with royal watchers claiming he tried to hurry along his wife.

The Duke took Meghan’s hand and started moving away after posing for photographers – but the Duchess appeared to linger.

Royal watchers claimed Harry may even have gently whispered to Meghan to ‘come on now’ as she paused.

In another video taken backstage, the Duke was grabbed by a member of the team, who asked him a question.

Meghan was left standing awkwardly, alone, waiting for him to arrive with some critics claiming she briefly ‘glowered’ before smiling.
