Shirtless YUNGBLUD sparks concern with bizarre MTV VMA red carpet look

Yungblud sparked fan concern as he attempted to shock by going shirtless on the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet.

The 28-year-old rock star – born Dominic Richard Harrison – put on a wild display as he showed off his abs by ditching his jacket and performing some bizarre poses for the cameras.

Showcasing his edginess, he walked with attitude on the red carpet before turning to the cameras with both arms outstretched and his right knee bent forward as he shot his sultriest looks toward the photographers.

Many took to social media to express concern about the rising musician.

‘A literal mess…,’ one wrote on a Pop Crave Twitter post as another joked: ‘He’s obsessed with looking a damn mess.’

Another jokingly compared him to a vampire character from a highly popular 1990s series.

Fans blasted Yungblud, 28, as he attempted to shock by going shirtless on the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet

Many took to social media to express concern about the rising musician

They wrote: ‘it’s giving temu spike from buffy the vampire slayer.’

Other fans had the opposite feeling as they praised the Abyss hitmaker for his bold entrance.

‘That styling choice is so perfectly on brand for him. When someone stays true to their aesthetic even on the biggest stages, it creates such powerful moments,’ one wrote.

Another said: ‘It’s my first time coming across this person, but he’s absolutely a star. This oozes early 90’s death, metal, grunge, rock in Seattle full fledged drugs & rock and roll teas with a dash of Ozzy. He’s taking it.’

Yungblud – who is performing an Ozzy Osbourne tribute at the event – donned a pair of black leather pants with matching boots as he accessorized with gunmetal colored accessories including a belt buckle, bracelets, and necklaces.

His raven colored locks were combed back while a few strands strategically hung down to frame his face as he wore dramatic make-up including heavy eyeliner.

The Lovesick Lullaby hitmaker donned a black leather sherpa jacket which he threw on the red carpet before putting on his shirtless display.

Yungblud had a very strong relationship with Ozzy after meeting him in 2022, and it appeared that their relationship grew into an almost father-son type bond.

X users both praised and blasted the star for his red carpet stunt

Ozzy tragically passed away aged 76 on July 22, and Yungblud reportedly gave a moving reading at his funeral.

He also performed at the metal icon’s farewell concert at Birmingham’s Villa Park in June amid his declining health.

The ceremony where Yungblud’s tribute is taking place is being held at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards kicked off in fantastic form as Lady Gaga took home the first Moon Person of the night.

The 39-year-old performer earned the major win as she upset megastar Taylor Swift in the coveted Artist of the Year category at the star-studded award show on Sunday night.

In addition to Taylor, she triumphed over a very impressive list of music’s biggest stars including: Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, and The Weeknd.

Gaga already has 18 VMA wins under her belt and her fans are anticipating her to add even more accolades this year.

This year also marks the third time that Gaga led MTV’s list of VMA nominees.

She previously topped the list with 13 nods in 2010 and again in 2020 tying for first with nine total nominations.

His girlfriend Jesse Jo Stark (L) was also in attendance

Yungblud has revealed he will honor the late Ozzy Osbourne with a special tribute at the VMAs  (pictured together two weeks before he passed)

The Bad Romance hitmaker is followed by her collaborator Bruno Mars who has 11 nominations and Kendrick Lamar has the third most nominations with ten.

Taylor Swift did not release a single or album in the last year so she is only up for one award in the Artist Of The Year category.

Last week, Gaga – born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta – announced that she would also be returning to the stage for a performance.

She will be joining the highly anticipated lineup including Doja Cat, Mariah Carey, Jelly Roll, Sabrina Carpenter, Post Malone, Tate McRae and J Balvin among many more.

Presenters for the event include the likes of Ciara, Ashlee Simpson Ross, Drew Barrymore, Jessica Simpson, Nikki Glaser, Paris Hilton, Livvy Dunne, and Ice Spice.

Rapper and actor LL Cool J is host of the event which will air for the first time on major network CBS as it will also stream on the premium tier of Paramount+ and simulcast on MTV.
