Liverpool discuss fee with Spurs over Robertson
Liverpool are discussing a fee with Tottenham for Andy Robertson. Tottenham were originally aiming to sign him on a free in the summer, when he will be a free agent, but they now want to do a deal this month.
Given Robertson’s contract situation, his stated desire to resolve his future and Liverpool’s appreciation for the service he has given them, they have entered into preliminary discussions.
The club underline that these discussions are preliminary and no outcome has yet been reached.
Foremost in their thinking will be the best interests of Liverpool’s squad and for Robertson who has been an outstanding servant since 2017.
Spurs CEO Vinai Venkatesham has spoken about the need for more leadership and quality in their recruitment and is keen to support Frank as he changes the club culture.
Boss Arne Slot has also reiterated the club remain attentive to transfer opportunities this window, but expects little activity over the next 10 days.
Slot said: ‘Yeah that’s what I expect, yeah. But, as I always say, if there’s an opportunity in the market and we think we can strengthen the squad, this club will always try to do so.
‘But at this moment in time I expect it to stay mostly the same.’
Kostas Tsimikas could yet return from his loan at Roma amid interest from the likes of Nottingham Forest while the onus is on Aston Villa to resolve Harvey Elliott’s future.
Moyes shoots down Beto exit talk
Everton striker Beto has been drawing attention from Fenerbahce.
Turkish reports said this morning a bid has gone in but Everton manager David Moyes insists there has been no contact and he wouldn’t let the 27-year-old go anyway.

Bannan set for Owls exit after stellar decade
Sheffield Wednesday’s long-serving captain Barry Bannan has informed team-mates that Saturday’s Championship game at Bristol City will be his last for the club.
Millwall have offered an 18-month contract to the 36-year-old midfielder who has made 434 league appearances for Wednesday since joining in August 2015.
Other Championship sides including Stoke City have shown interest.
Wolves negotiating over Agbadou sale
We told you earlier that Wolves and Besiktas are around £2million apart on a deal for Emmanuel Agbadou… the 28-year-old is at the club’s Sir Jack Hayward training base looking to accelerate discussions.
He is ready to make the move to Istanbul and Besiktas would ideally like it resolved over the next few hours.
Abraham closing on Villa return
Tom Collomosse reports: Tammy Abraham is edging closer to joining Aston Villa with optimism from all parties that a deal can be done in the coming days.
The former Chelsea forward is currently on a season’s loan at Besiktas from Roma but is a favourite of Villa boss Unai Emery, who has made him a priority target for the winter window.
He had a successful spell on loan at Villa in the season they won promotion in 2019.

Ipswich are signing Bristol City midfielder Anis Mehmeti in a £3million deal.
The 25-year-old has also attracted interest from Wolves but has passed a medical with Ipswich and has agreed terms on a three-and-a-half year contract.

Middlesbrough are close to signing young Ghana forward Hinneh Lord Listowell.
The 18-year-old is a graduate of the Samba Stars Academy which is backed by former West Ham striker Michail Antonio.
Listowell has been playing for Ghanaian Premier League side Asante Kotoko and was invited for a couple of spells on trial at Boro last year where he impressed staff.

Cardiff City goalkeeper Ethan Horvath is in talks to join New York Red Bulls.
The 30-year-old from Colorado, who has ten caps for USA, spent the first half of the season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday where he made 16 appearances.

Mainoo in from the cold
Manchester United are prepared to return to contract talks for midfielder Kobbie Mainoo following confirmation of Casemiro’s departure.
Mainoo has been brought back into the fold by interim boss Michael Carrick and plans to move to Napoli on loan have been shelved. A new contract was agreed by Mainoo last year but Ruben Amorim did not sign it off.
Mainoo has 18 months remaining on his contract, plus the option of a further year, but is not on parity with other first teamers.
Alao on brink of Blues move
Chelsea are finalising agreement with Sheffield Wednesday for left back Yisa Alao.
The 17-year-old also had an offer from Manchester United but Chelsea have agreed a £600,000 fee which could rise to £6m with add-ons.
Lucca set for Forest
Nottingham Forest are signing Napoli forward Lorenzo Lucca on loan with an option to make the deal permanent for £34.8m.
The 25-year-old was flying to England last night ahead of his medical.
Sargent tries to force exit
Josh Sargent does not intend to play for Norwich City again. The 25-year-old took exception to a remark made by Norwich City sporting director Ben Knapper which he viewed as disrespectful to his family.
The comment was made in discussions intended to clear the air. Sargent has been banished to training with the U21s and wants to leave for Toronto FC with his young family.
Norwich say if he apologises for refusing to play for the club he can return to the fold but that is deemed unlikely after Knapper’s remark.
Wrexham make play for Cherif
Wrexham have made a rival offer for Crystal Palace target Sidiki Cherif, 19. It’s understood the Championship side have proposed £12m with a further £2m in bonuses should they be promoted. Palace had offered a £2.6m loan fee and an option to buy worth £13m.
Palace retain interest in Leeds target Jorgen Strand Larsen of Wolves. They also like Genoa’s Jeff Ekhator.
Premier League sides monitor Wilson
