Rugby league player is sent off for shocking X-rated referee question

A women’s Super League star was shown a red card on Saturday after the player allegedly made an inappropriate comment to a referee.

St Helens claimed an 18-8 victory against York Valkyrie at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Saturday, but in the final moments of the match, the referee halted proceedings to speak to York hooker Sinead Peach.

The official was heard on the ref mic speaking to the 27-year-old forward, before he appeared to claim that the player had asked him: ‘Which one are you s****ing?’ after a decision had gone against her team.

The victory saw the Saints move one point clear of Wigan at the top of the Women’s Super League table with just two matches of the regular season left to play.

The hosts had trailed the visitors 8-0 early in the second half but the current league leaders produced an epic comeback in the final 30 minutes of the match, with Phoebe Hook scoring a brace of tries to lead them to victory.

St Helens won a penalty in the dying moments of the match, with Faye Gaskin stepping up to kick the ball through the posts to seal the win.

The referee was heard on his microphone, appearing to claim that Peach (centre) had asked him: 'which one are you s****ing?'

But prior to Gaskin’s set shot, the referee paused play and handed a red card to Peach for dissent.

The official was overheard explaining his reasoning for sending the former Featherstone and Castleford hooker down the tunnel on his microphone.

‘I’m not having you saying: “Which one are you s****ing?”,’ the referee said.

‘You’re off.’

Commentators were left stunned by the moment, while members of the crowd began to jeer as the 27-year-old was handed her marching orders.

A clip of the moment has now gone viral on X, and some social media users were shocked by the remark.

‘From a team that was allowed to do whatever they wanted all game, that’s a staggering remark to make to the ref,’ one wrote.

‘Wow, absolutely vile comments from the York player. Kudos to the referee for showing her the red card,’ another wrote.

‘Fair play referee. Red Card all day long,’ another said.

‘Very surprising comments from the York captain.’

‘Absolutely crazy thing to say, you know there’s only going to be one result.’

St Helens continue their Super League campaign on Friday night and will square off against Wigan in a blockbuster top-of-the-table clash before travelling to play Leigh Leopards in the final game of the regular season.
