Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s son Kai, 16, lifts weights

Kai Rooney showed off his fitness transformation as he shared snaps from his gym session on Tuesday afternoon.

The 16-year-old son of Wayne and Coleen Rooney wore a vest, beanie hat and tracksuit shorts as he worked out in a swanky gym in a high rise building.

Following the workout, the sportsman, who plays as a forward for Manchester United’s youth academy, snapped a selfie for his Instagram stories which showed his image overhaul as he stayed on his fitness regime despite being off-season.

In March, Kai revealed he would be out for the rest of the season in a heartbreaking post on Instagram having enjoyed an impressive campaign so far at Old Trafford after making his debut for the U18s in January.

After an injury, he was forced to watch from the sidelines. In his post he wrote: ‘Disappointed to be out for the rest of the season. Back stronger next pre-season.’

Kai, who is eligible for a professional contract at Manchester United next season after earning his first scholarship, signed off his post with a a love heart emoji.

Earlier in March, the Man United starlet signed with super agent Triple S Sports as he took a huge step forwards in his youth career.

Triple S Sports is owned by Paul Stretford, Kai’s dad Wayne’s long-term football agent who signed the former Everton and United forward when he was 17.

The agency also represents United defender Harry Maguire, Everton’s James Garner and Wayne’s 22-year-old cousin, Jake Rooney.

They also have a number of United academy players on their roster, including 18-year-old forward Shea Lacey and Bendito Mantato.

Earlier this year, the youngster helped United’s U16s win the Premier League Shield while his parents Wayne and Coleen proudly cheered him on in the stands.

Playing at United’s training ground at Carrington, the Red Devils youth side carved out a comfortable 2-0 win over Burnley to lift the silverware.

The Rooneys are regulars at their son’s games. Earlier this year, Kai played in his first match at Old Trafford in an FA Youth Cup tie, and the couple were flanked by the likes of Michael Carrick, whose son, Jacey, is also a highly-rated youngster at United.

‘I’m trying to make a name for myself, not try and be my dad because I’m my own person,’ Kai said back in August 2024. ‘I want to see how my career goes, obviously try to do the best I can and try to reach the biggest stages.

‘I’m just focusing on me and to try to not let any pressure get to me and just keep working on me day by day, month by month.’

Coleen explained during her time in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle in 2024: ‘Kai told Wayne to stop coming to football games when he played grassroots tournaments and stuff, because he used to get swarmed, and he couldn’t even watch the game,’  ‘How do you say to all of these kids, “Go away, I’m watching my son?”
