Victoria Beckham hilariously upstages a bride in Ugly Betty cameo

  • Have YOU got a story? Email tips@dailymail.co.uk

A hilarious clip of Victoria Beckham’s cameo in Ugly Betty has emerged after her son Brooklyn claimed she ‘hijacked’ his first dance with wife Nicola Peltz.

In his bombshell statement on Monday, Brooklyn accused his mother of dancing ‘inappropriately’ with him at his wedding in 2022, with sources claiming that she ‘nuzzled his neck’ and ‘grinded’ on her son during the dance.

Now, a historic clip from Victoria’s WAG heyday as resurfaced, when she made a cameo in the ABC series Ugly Betty.

In it, Victoria stole the limelight from the bride, Wilhelmina Slater (played by Vanessa Williams), having taken on the role as her maid of honour.

In the episode, which aired in 2007, Victoria went on to make the day all about herself, with a clip showing the moment she sensationally stole attention from Wilhelmina while posing up a storm in her stunning Vera Wang wedding gown.

The WAG sported her iconic early 2000s blonde bob in the clip, with some fans quickly noting the parallels between the moment and Brooklyn’s recent bombshell allegations about his wedding day.

In his bombshell statement on Monday, Brooklyn accused his mother of dancing 'inappropriately' with him at his wedding to wife Nicola Peltz in 2022

Fans wrote on X: ‘Victoria Beckham upstaging the bride is literally a storyline from Ugly Betty;’

‘Victoria Beckham making someone else’s wedding about herself happened in Ugly Betty too 19 years ago;’

‘I was literally watching this today and had the same thought!’ She didn’t even have to act here.’

‘She was already giving signs!; Always wanting to steal the thunder.’

The dress that Victoria wore in the series also vaguely resembled the silver metallic slip gown the designer wore to Brooklyn’s wedding in 2022, with a slinky silhouette and V-shaped neckline.

It comes as sources told Daily Mail’s Alison Boshoff about the real reason behind the Beckham family’s dislike for ‘child-like’ Nicola, and the truth about Victoria’s dance with her son. You can read the full report here.

Brooklyn wrote in his six-page statement: ‘In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone.

‘I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.’

One guest who attended the wedding has claimed Victoria’s dancing was anything but sleazy and believes the bride Nicola, was furious her mother-in-law ‘stole her limelight’ after Marc Anthony heaped praise on the Spice Girl throughout his set.

‘She was a bit wooden but not sleazy. It was inappropriate but only in the sense that she appeared to be the centre of attention when it should have been about the bride instead,’ the wedding guest told The Mirror.

‘Our takeaway was that there was no grinding. But it was a bit of a stiff, awkward performance.

‘It did rather feel like the Beckham show. Marc Anthony had been praising Victoria in between songs, and then you had her go up on the dance floor for this moment. It was a bit much, and Nicola didn’t appear happy.’

Meanwhile, DJ Fat Tony, who performed a late night set joined in the posts poking fun at the groom’s claim that his mum ‘hijacked my first dance with my wife’ and ‘danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone’.

Tony shared a video of Lucy Punch’s character Amanda in BBC sitcom Motherland dancing wildly to the Lil’ Kleine and Ronnie Flex track Drank & Drugs in front of her school mum friends.

The clip was captioned ‘POV: Victoria Beckham during Brooklyn’s first dance’ and Fat Tony added the words: ‘Actual video footage it’s true I was there !’

Tony’s partner Stavros Agapiou on Tuesday backed up Brooklyn’s ‘inappropriate’ dancing comment.

‘I was there and she did, he’s telling the truth,’ he said in an Instagram comment, which has since been deleted – with Stavros instead posting: ‘Good on him for finally speaking out!’

Page Six reported the actress was so upset she left the reception crying after Victoria ‘wrapped her arms around Brooklyn and nuzzled into his neck’.

A source said: ‘She [Victoria] was dancing with him very inappropriately. She took that moment from Nicola, that is the god’s truth.

‘Nicola ran out crying. The Beckhams’ side of the room was cheering and the Peltz side was quiet.

‘Nicola’s friends were saying “You have to go back down”. Her face was swollen. She finally came down and was sad the entire evening, it was so heartbreaking.’

Another source claimed Brooklyn spent the weekend ‘agonising’ over what to say in the six-page statement, after telling his wife ‘f*** it, this ends now’.

The insider told The Mirror: ‘He thought the abuse towards his wife would never stop until he said something in his own words. He was sick of the lies, and there was no changing his mind….and nor did anyone want to. He was fixated on ending the b******t which he claims his mum and dad are behind.’

In his statement, Brooklyn also claimed that Victoria cancelled the making of Nicola's wedding dress and reportedly brought his former girlfriends around him to 'make him uncomfortable'

Fans are clamouring to see the footage at the centre of the Beckham family rift.

But sources say the video will likely never surface because Brooklyn himself holds the only recording of the controversial moment.

The couple famously enforced an ultra-strict no-phones policy at their lavish Florida nuptials, attended by 500 guests.

All attendees were required to surrender their personal devices upon arrival, sealing them inside electronically locked pouches before being handed retro flip phones for basic photographs.

As a result, Brooklyn and Nicola retain exclusive control over all official footage from the day, meaning the alleged ’embarrassing’ dance exists only in material owned by the couple themselves.
