Iranian drone attacks have forced Qatar to stop producing gas supplies after a separate strike in Saudi Arabia caused a huge fire at the world’s biggest oil refinery.

Qatar’s state-run energy firm said it ceased its liquefied natural gas production following two attacks in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed as the country cuts its ties with Iran. European gas prices increased by as much as 30% in the first trading session since the fighting between US-Israel and Iran began on Saturday.

Earlier today, Saudi Arabia dramatically halted operations at one of the world’s biggest oil refineries after another Iranian drone strike.

The Saudi defence ministry has confirmed two missiles were intercepted and destroyed at its huge Ras Tanura plant which produces around 550,000 barrels per day and is a cornerstone of the kingdom’s energy sector.

The latest attack comes on as the US-Israel war with Iran enters its third day: Here’s what you need to know:

Iranians have taken to social media to share videos of them doing the famous ‘Trump dance’ after a joint US-Israel military operation killed Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei on Saturday.

President Donald Trump announced on Saturday evening that the US had killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

‘Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead,’ the president wrote on Truth Social.

Khamenei, the chief Islamic cleric and ruler of Iran for over 36 years since 1989, has long been an adversary of the US for decades throughout multiple presidential administrations.

His rule saw the increased Islamification of Iran and the growth of its proxy forces in Yemen, Lebanon, Gaza and beyond.

Bahrain has declared its air defence systems have intercepted 70 ballistic missiles and 59 drones as Iran retaliates against the Gulf states over the US-Israel military operation.

Bahrain’s National Communications Centre said the interceptions resulted in some debris falling onto sites across the island kingdom.

Earlier in the day, a ship was hit at a Bahrain port, causing a fire that was extinguished and no casualties.

‘UKMTO received a report of an incident in the Port of Bahrain. The Company Security Officer reported that the vessel had been struck by two unknown projectiles causing a fire. The fire has been extinguished and the vessel remains in port. All members of the ships crew are safe and have evacuated the vessel,’ the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed that America ‘didn’t start this war’ as he revealed Iran’s plans to build a ‘missile shield’ to protect its nuclear ambitions.

‘We didn’t start this war, but under President Trump, we are finishing it,’ Hegseth told a press conference at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, on Monday.

He warned that ‘war is hell and it always will be’ as a fourth US soldier was confirmed dead following Iranian strikes on a base in Kuwait.

Hegseth explained that ‘Iran was building powerful missiles and drones to create a conventional shield for their nuclear blackmail ambitions’.

He vowed that the US would crush the Islamic regime. ‘We will finish this,’ he said.

French President Emmanuel Macron said his country would increase the number of its nuclear warheads as he laid out how the European Union’s only atomic arsenal could protect the continent.

‘An upgrade of our arsenal is essential,’ he said from France’s Ile Longue nuclear submarine base. ‘That’s why I ordered an increase in the number of nuclear warheads in our arsenal.’

Macron added however that France – which holds the world’s fourth-largest nuclear arsenal, estimated at around 290 warheads – would no longer be disclosing details on its contents.

Hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been told not to evict British tourists who are stranded in the Middle East destinations.

There is currently widespread travel disruption across the region due to ongoing conflict, after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran over the weekend.

Drone and missile attacks have since been launched from Iran to several allies in the area, including Dubai, Kuwait, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

Around 100,000 British expats have registered their presence in the region with the Foreign Office online.

Now, hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been urged by officials to not force out visitors who have become stranded due to the mass flight cancellations and issues.

Flights will take off from Dubai Airport tonight after operations were suspended following fighting between US-Israel and Iran.

Officials confirmed a ‘limited number’ of planes will take off later this evening but passengers have been urged not to travel to the airport unless contacted by their airline.

The wife of Iran’s Supreme Leader has died today after succumbing to injuries sustained in the same US-Israeli airstrike that killed her husband.

Al Jazeera reported that Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh died two days after her husband, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in his compound in Tehran.

She married Khamenei in 1965, and had four sons and two daughters with him during their marriage.

Throughout the decades of turbulence caused by Khamenei harsh rule over Iran, Bagherzadeh is said to have quietly supported him.

She did not assume any public responsibilities or play any formal role in the leadership of the nation, instead shying away from cameras and public life.

Sir Keir Starmer will update Parliament on the Middle East crisis at 3.30pm after it emerged Donald Trump said he was ‘very disappointed’ with the Prime Minister.

Trump has criticised Sir Keir for initially blocking the US from using British military bases, saying he took ‘far too long’ to change his mind.

Sir Keir will now address the Commons as he updates MPs on the latest situation with as many as 300,000 Britons trapped in countries targeted by Iran.

The Prime Minister said: ‘I know the situation in the Middle East is worrying for British people in the region, and at home.

‘It’s my duty as Prime Minister to keep British people safe. I will be answering questions on the steps we took over the weekend in Parliament.’
