Kurds ‘to begin ground operation in Iran within days’ – updates

The joint US-Israeli offensive is seeking an armed uprising in Iran using a Kurdish fighting force, reports this evening suggest.

It is thought that since 2024 thousands of volunteers in western Iran have been armed with weapons ready for a rebellion which could begin within a matter of days.

It follows US targeting of west Iran in recent days in an attempt to destabilise the region ahead of a possible on-ground rebellion.

American and Israeli forces have been asked to provide air cover, according to ITV News, when the Kurds begin their uprising.

It comes after President Donald Trump admitted he will not hesitate to deploy US troops in Iran ‘if they were necessary’.

In a video posted to social media Tuesday night, US Senator Elizabeth Warren said Americans ‘are right to be worried.’

She said she had just attended a classified briefing and came away realizing that ‘it is so much worse than you thought.’

‘The Trump administration has no plan in Iran,’ she claimed.

‘This illegal war is based on lies and it was launched without any imminent threat to our nation. Donald Trump still hasn’t given a single clear reason for this war and he seems to have no plan for how to end it either.’

She concluded by saying she will do everything she can to bring the operation to an end.

Admiral Brad Cooper, head of United States Central Command, said on Tuesday that more than 50,000 troops, 200 fighters, two aircraft carriers and bombers from the United States are participating in the operation against Iran, with more forces on the way, in what is ‘the largest buildup by the US in the Middle East in a generation.;

‘In simple terms, we’re focused on shooting all the things that can shoot at us,’ he said.

‘We are also sinking the Iranian Navy, the entire navy,’ he added, noting that 17 Iranian ships were destroyed, ‘including the most operational submarine that now has a hole in its side.’

Admiral Cooper said the US is continuing with ’24/7 strikes into Iran from seabed to space and cyberspace.’

Sergeant Nicole Amor, one of the six US soldiers to have been killed in an Iranian strike against a military facility in Kuwait, was just days away from returning home to her husband and two children before she died.

The 39-year-old had been in a state of ‘constant concern’, her husband Joey Amor said.

‘You could see it in the movements. She knew something was coming, she just didn’t know what scale.’

The soldier was moved off her base to a shipping container style building without defences.

‘They were dispersing because they were in fear that the base they were on was going to get attacked and they felt it was safer in smaller groups in separate places,’ he said.

The couple exchanged messages about two hours before she was killed. ‘She just never responded in the morning,’ he said.

Iran has blown up a CIA station at the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia as the agency works to arm militants for an uprising against the Islamic regime.

A suspected Iranian drone struck the CIA station in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, on Monday, just two days after the spy agency pinpointed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s location in the strike that killed him.

An internal State Department alert revealed that Tehran’s attack ‘collapsed’ part of the station’s roof and ‘contaminated’ the compound with smoke, according to the Washington Post.

The US has ‘severely degraded’ Iranian air defences and battle ships following another series of strikes.

US forces have destroyed ‘hundreds of Iran’s ballistic missiles, launchers and drones’, the US Central Command said.

Senior Admiral Brad Cooper said they had ‘struck nearly 2,000 targets and destroyed 17 Iranian ships’, while Iran has fired over 500 ballistic missiles and over 2,000 drones as the regime ‘indiscriminately target civilians’.

He claimed ‘there is not a single Iranian ship under way in the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Gulf of Oman’ saying the focus is on ‘shooting all the things that can shoot at us’.

He branded the operation an ‘unprecedented success’ adding: ‘We will not stop. We will continue to conduct dynamic targeting operations or hunting Iran’s last remaining mobile ballistic missile launchers’.

Admiral Cooper also said the first 24 hours of the operation were double the scale of the shock and awe bombardment in Iraq in 2003.

The IDF has said it has began another ‘broad wave of strikes’ as it continues to pummel Iran.

The Israeli military says the strikes are aimed at ‘the Iranian terror regime’s launch sites, aerial defence systems and additional infrastructure’.

The Pentagon has tonight released the names of four of the six service members who have been killed since the Iran war began on Saturday.

Captain Cody Khork, 35, Sergeant Noah Tietjens, 42, Sergeant Nicole Amor, 39, and Specialist Declan Coady, 20, were killed when a drone hit a command centre in Kuwait on Sunday.

All were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, lowa.

The death toll in Lebanon has risen to 50, with 355 wounded.

It comes after Israel bombarded southern Lebanon and Beirut with strikes on Monday after Hezbollah sent missiles towards Israel for the first time in more than a year.

It remains unclear how many of the casualties were civilians. No one died from Hezbollah’s attack.

The United States have struck more than 1,700 targets in the four days since their offensive on Iran began on Saturday, 28 February, an update from the US Central Command revealed.

‘US forces have destroyed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command and control facilities, Iranian air defence capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields during sustained operations,’ a statement read.

‘We will continue to take decisive action against imminent threats posed by the Iranian regime.’

Trump has shown no signs of backing down and warned the war could rage on for longer than a month.
