LIVE: Nato shoots down Iranian missile after it crosses into Turkey

Iran fired a ballistic missile into Turkey before it was shot down by Nato.

Turkish defence ministry officials confirmed the missile had entered the country’s airspace before it was countered by Nato air defences deployed in the eastern Mediterranean.

The incident marked the fourth such incident since the start of the Iran war, following three earlier interceptions by Nato systems earlier this month that prompted Ankara to protest and warn Tehran.

Meanwhile Donald Trump has threatened to blow up Iran’s power and desalination plants as well as oil wells and Kharg Island unless a deal can be reached to ‘immediately’ reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Writing on his Truth Social platform, the President said the US is in ‘serious discussions’ with a ‘more reasonable regime’ to end the war but said he will take action unless an agreement is made.

And a huge fire broke out at an Israeli oil refinery following a missile strike earlier today.

Footage captured by Israeli media shows flames bursting from the Bazan refinery in the port city of Haifa which has previously come under attack in the Iran war.

Trump threatens to end ‘lovely’ stay in Iran by blowing up oil wells and desalination plants

Donald Trump has threatened to blow up Iran’s oil wells and desalination plants unless a deal can be reached to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Writing on his Truth Social platform, the President said the US is in ‘serious discussions’ with a ‘more reasonable regime’ to end the war but said he will take action unless an agreement is made

‘Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately “Open for Business,” we will conclude our lovely “stay” in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet “touched,”’ Trump penned.

Israel says it is reviewing reports of UN peacekeepers killed in Lebanon

The Israeli army said early Tuesday it is aware of reports regarding two instances in which United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon peacekeepers were killed.

The army said it is reviewing them to determine whether the deaths resulted from Hezbollah activity or Israeli fire, noting that ‘these incidents occurred in an active combat area.’

The statement comes after UNIFIL said three peacekeepers have been killed in southern Lebanon within 24 hours in two separate instances.

An explosion of ‘unknown origin’ on Monday destroyed a vehicle near the village of Bani Hayyan, killing two peacekeepers and wounding two others, including one with severe injuries.

Earlier, an Indonesian peacekeeper was killed after a base was hit by a projectile.

Iran denies negotiations with US

Iran has once again denied engaging in negotiations with the US.

Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s foreign minister, said the regime has ‘had no negotiations with America in these thirty-one days,’ referring to the duration of the war.

‘What has occurred is the submission of a negotiation request, accompanied by a set of proposals from America, which has reached us through certain intermediaries, including Pakistan.

‘Our position is very clear. At present, as America’s military aggression and invasion continue with full intensity, all our efforts and capabilities are devoted to defending Iran’s essence.

‘We do not forget the betrayal that was inflicted upon diplomacy in two instances within less than a year.’

Rubio hits out at Spain and NATO

Marco Rubio has accused America’s NATO allies of abandoning the US in an hour of need.

The US Secretary of State complained that NATO ally Spain had barred US jets involved in the war against Iran from overflying its airspace.

Rubio has generally been supportive of NATO even as Trump has lashed out against alliance members for not stepping up during the war.

But on Monday he lashed out at Spain’s leftist leaders for ‘bragging’ about cutting off its airspace even as the US has pledged to defend their country.

He said the alliance is useful for the US. because it allows America to station troops and equipment in Europe, ‘but if NATO is just about us defending Europe if they’re attacked but then denying us basing rights when we need them, that’s not a very good arrangement.’
