Watch: Shearer’s wild reaction to Newcastle’s winner against Arsenal

A jubilant Alan Shearer was filmed reacting to Alexander Isak’s goal in Newcastle’s win over Arsenal on Saturday.

Eddie Howe’s side welcomed the Gunners to St James’ Park having secured just two points from a possible 15 in their previous five Premier League games.

With his side in dire need of a response Newcastle delivered, as Alexander Isak headed home after just 12 minutes to secure all three points against the title challengers.

It later emerged via a video on TikTok, that watching on in the studio were Shearer and his former Match of the Day colleague and Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

After Isak connected with Anthony Gordon’s whipped cross Shearer cried out in joy whilst Wright watched on in dismay.

The Magpies subsequently held on to secure all three points against Mikel Arteta's side

Immediately following his celebration Shearer singled out the England international’s delivery for praise.

‘What a cross! What a cross!’ Shearer said. ‘That was a cross from the 90s!’

For the remainder of the game Newcastle defended resolutely but were rarely troubled by Mikel Arteta’s side other than a golden opportunity that fell to Declan Rice in the closing stages.

The midfielder was unable to convert however, condemning the Gunners to just their second Premier League defeat of the season and leaving them with ground to make up in the title race.
