Trump rages at Iran’s latest mysterious peace offering

Donald Trump is not satisfied with the latest mysterious peace offer from Iran to end the deadlock in the two-month war.

The President told reporters on the White House lawn he is not sure ‘we’re going to get a deal’ before adding: ‘They [Iran] all want to make a deal but they’re all messed up.’

‘Iran wants to make a deal, but I’m not satisfied with it,’ he added. ‘Iran wants to make a deal because they have no military left.’

When asked why he was unsatisfied with Iran’s latest offer, the President said that Tehran was ‘asking for things I can’t agree’ to.

The President also claimed that internal divisions among Iran’s top leadership are complicating negotiations: ‘They’re having a tremendous problem getting along with each other … In Iran, the leadership is very disjointed. It’s got two to three groups, maybe four, and it’s a very disjointed leadership.’

Iran has submitted a new proposal to the US through Pakistani mediators, aiming to break the stalemate between the two countries and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a passageway responsible for carrying one-fifth of global oil.

The exact details of the proposal remain unclear. The White House has demanded that Iran suspend its nuclear program and hand over its enriched uranium to the US as conditions for signing a peace agreement.

Tehran, meanwhile, wants the US to end economic sanctions and give them control over the strait.

Trump later told reporters that Iran has ‘made strides’ in current peace talks with the us, ‘but I’m not sure if they ever get there.’

Iran had previously indicated a willingness to reopen the strait but stopped short of offering any concrete concessions on its nuclear program..

The regime has used small groups of speedboats to attack and seize oil tankers attempting to move cargo through the strait, as well as laying sea mines.

Trump has responded by imposing a naval blockade on Iranian ports to pressure Tehran back to the negotiating table.

The closure of the strait has had a significant economic impact on the global energy market.

Gas is now at its highest price since the consumer inflation crisis of July 2022, according to the data from AAA.

Oil prices remain volatile after climbing briefly above $120 a barrel due to market concerns about the Iran war continuing.

Brent crude, the economic benchmark for global oil, traded above $126 but then fell below $115 a barrel.

Before the war, the average barrel of Brent traded for approximately $72, according to the New York Times.

Soaring oil prices are capable of affecting the average consumer far beyond the gas pump, driving up the cost of groceries, shipping, and virtually every consumer good that has to be transported or manufactured.

Trump has stopped short of strikes since an April 7 ceasefire was reached, though gas prices remain high and his poll numbers remain on the wane.
