Tennis star ‘splits from wife of 15 years and joins dating app Raya’

Sir Andy Murray’s brother Jamie has divorced from his wife after 15 years of marriage, according to reports.

Tennis star Jamie – who specialises in doubles – is understood to have split from his partner Alejandra Gutierrez in 2024.

The couple share a three-year-old daughter Ava together and were granted a divorce on August 22 this year.

Jamie, 39, has reportedly joined celebrity dating app Raya and has set up a profile using a picture of himself playing tennis with Sir Andy.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion describes himself on the site as an athlete who ‘travels the world playing tennis’.

A family friend told The Sun: ‘It’s a really sad situation. They’re working hard to make it as amicable as possible between them at this stage.

‘Jamie’s started to make moves towards meeting someone new by signing up to dating sites.’

A spokesperson for Jamie, who is a former world doubles No 1, confirmed the divorce when approached by The Sun.

They added that it was an ‘extremely difficult time for Jamie and Alejandra’ – with the family ‘navigating their future’.

Jamie met Alejandra, who is from Columbia, while she was a business student in London in 2008.

The pair wed two years later in Jamie’s hometown of Dunblane in Scotland – with a private ceremony for family and friends.

It is believed Andy, who organised a stag do for Jamie in London a month earlier, was the best man.

This summer Jamie returned to Wimbledon for his first Championship since his brother’s retirement.

Despite first-round defeats in both the men’s and mixed doubles competitions, Jamie thinks there still could be more to come in his career.

‘I always had a mental block about playing past 40 but I’m just about there now with my next birthday in February and I still want to play next year for sure,’ he said.

‘So I guess I’ll be going into my forties.

‘I’m still enjoying travelling and competing. My ranking is good enough to play the top events and you’re a long-time retired.

‘I haven’t had any real injuries or surgeries or anything like that. My body still feels pretty good.

‘I haven’t played particularly well in the last couple of years but I’m starting to get my act together now.

‘I still think I can do well at these big events.

‘I was struggling with my serve which is the most important shot in the game but I definitely have more confidence with it just now.’

The Daily Mail has contacted Jamie’s reps for comment.
