Sydney Sweeney offered the lead role in Bollywood movie

Sydney Sweeney could be swapping Hollywood for Bollywood after being offered a role in one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.

The actress appeared to have fallen out of favour with her fellow Hollywood stars at Sunday night’s Emmy Awards, and now her sights have turned to the largest film industry in the world.

A production company has reportedly approached the American actress with a £45million deal to star in one of the most expensive Bollywood films ever made.

The deal is made up of a £35million fee alongside £10million in sponsorship agreements, with producers hoping Sydney’s star power would help the movie to reach the international market.

Sydney would play a young American star who falls in love with an Indian celebrity with filming due to take place in early 2026 in locations to include New York, Paris, London and Dubai.

‘Sydney was shocked by the offer at first, £45million is an incredible sum,’ a source has revealed. ‘But the project is intriguing, and it could elevate her global profile even further.’

‘Nothing has been decided yet, but it’s a huge opportunity and Sydney is weighing her options carefully.

‘Money isn’t everything, and she has many projects lined up, but this could push her to new limits as an actress,’ the insider added to The Sun.

Representatives for Syndey have been contacted by Daily Mail for comment.

The offer comes at a crucial point in Sydney’s career, with the Euphoria actress making a notably subdued appearance on the biggest night in television.

While she took to the Emmys stage to present Owen Cooper with the Outstanding Supporting Actor award, Sydney was not pictured mingling with any of the celebrities backstage, nor was she seen at any of the afterparties.

With Sydney once Hollywood’s darling, questions have been raised over why her involvement at the Emmys was so limited – with it suggested that it may have something to do with the recent controversies she has faced.

The Anyone But You star has been on shaky ground after a huge backlash over her American Eagle denim campaign, which was branded ‘Nazi propaganda’ by critics.

It has also been revealed that the blonde beauty is a registered member of the Republican Party, which sparked a hugely divided response.

In contrast, much of Sunday night’s ceremony was taken up with woke celebrities lambasting President Trump’s policies.

Sydney hasn't had much success on the big screen this year with Ron Howard's $50million-budget survival thriller Eden earning just $1million

Four days after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, not one reference was made about the proud Republican.

On a politically charged night in Hollywood it would be amiss not to notice that Republican Sydney is at the other end of the spectrum to her Hollywood co-stars when it comes to their ideologies.

Recently, the actress was engulfed in a bizarre controversy after she appeared in an American Eagle denim campaign that had the tagline: ‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,’ with critics claiming the ad was pro-eugenics and supported far-Right politics.

Experts previously told the Daily Mail that the contentious ad was intentionally attention-grabbing.

‘From a PR perspective, what we’re seeing from Sydney Sweeney isn’t a “misstep”‘, Alexandria Hurley, a Las Vegas-based publicist, said.

‘Sydney has flirted with controversy before — from her SNL Hooters skit to her recent Bathwater Bliss collaboration with Dr. Squatch — and rather than walk it back after criticism, she’s leaned further in. That’s not oversight. That’s strategy.’

Next up for Sydney is her lead in the heavily promoted biopic Christy. The actress made a remarkable transformation into boxing legend Christy Martin, piling on 30lbs for the role

However, this strategy was no help when it came to ticket sales for Sydney’s latest movies, which were both released in August.

Ron Howard’s $50million-budget survival thriller Eden — debuted in 664 screens  and earned just $1million.

Meanwhile, her film Americana, made only $500,000 on its opening weekend against a $9million budget, the weekend prior.
