There is also Queen Elizabeth II’s ‘mourning costume’ consisting of a black dress, coat, hat and pearls which she wore at the Aberdeenshire retreat in the movie following the death of Princess Diana.

Also featured is a purple dress which The Queen is seen wearing in the final scene of the film while meeting Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Dame Helen, 79, won best actress at the 2007 Academy Awards for her role, which is set in the days following Diana’s death in 1997.

Directed by Stephen Frears and written by Peter Morgan, it focuses on how The Queen received public criticism over her decision to keep the Royal Family at Balmoral for a week following the tragedy.

The clothing collection will go under the hammer at Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in London next month and has been given an estimate of £1,000 to £2,000.

A description of the items reads: ‘Queen Elizabeth II’s (Helen Mirren’s) mourning costume, final scene dress and picnic skirt from Stephen Frears’ The Queen.

‘Elizabeth wore her black dress, black coat and pearls in the days following Princess Diana’s death; she wore her purple dress in the final scene when she met with Tony Blair (Michael Sheen); and she wore her tartan skirt while picnicking in Scotland with her family.

‘The black hat in this lot is different to the one she wears to the funeral but is labelled “The Queen Funeral Hat Helen Mirren”.’

Following her performance in the film, the actress turned down an invitation to have dinner with the real monarch.

She said she made ‘every effort’ to make the date at Buckingham Palace but her filming schedule in the US was ‘impossible to change’.
