Shane Lowry lands incredible piece of Masters history with hole-in-one

Shane Lowry has become the first golfer in history to get multiple holes-in-one at the Masters.

The beloved Irishman delighted the patrons at Augusta National on Saturday afternoon as aced the 190-yard, par-3 sixth hole early in his third round.

It catapulted him to within four of the lead held by close friend Rory McIlroy, who saw his commanding position wilt away early on Saturday.

Lowry’s shot pitched below the hole and taken a couple of bounces before rolling in for only the seventh ace at that hole in the tournament’s history.

The moment sparked wild celebrations on the course and Lowry’s playing partner, Tommy Fleetwood, embraced his Ryder Cup teammate.

The shot was so good that even American player Harris English paused and pretended to bow down to Lowry on the nearby 16th green.

It was just the 35th time a hole-in-one has been scored at the Masters and now Lowry has two of them.

His previous hole-in-one here came at the 16th in the final round of 2016. It was also his second ace in a month after recording one at March’s Texas Children’s Houston Open.

Lowry has also aced the 17th at Sawgrass, in 2022, and the short seventh at Pebble Beach, in January 2025, two of the most famous par threes in golf.

Thanks to his latest effort on Saturday, Lowry will be awarded a large crystal bowl as a prize by Augusta National.
