Sean Dyche defends Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis

Sean Dyche leapt to the defence of Evangelos Marinakis as he promised to set Nottingham Forest on an even keel following the chaos of Ange Postecoglou’s brief tenure.

Dyche is Forest’s third manager of the season, barely two months after it began. Postecoglou lasted only 39 days after he replaced Nuno Espirito Santo and failed to register a win – something Dyche must rectify quickly.

Forest owner Marinakis’ judgement has been questioned during recent months, with Forest in the bottom three and without a victory since the opening day of the campaign. Yet Dyche invited the doubters to look at Marinakis’ entire reign as owner: Forest were struggling in the Championship when the Greek businessman took control, and they are now in the Europa League.

‘Look at the changes from day one to now,’ said Dyche. ‘There have been huge changes at this club. You can question the owner currently, which a few have, but at the end of the day the bigger picture is a lot of good, a lot of goodwill, a lot of good feeling.

‘He wants the situation to stabilise first. He’s well aware of the challenges. He’s been around football a long time, with Olympiacos and then here.

‘Stability is the next move. But that’s not acceptable for the whole run of being Nottingham Forest manager. I don’t want that. I don’t want to sit here and go, ‘Well, that’s OK then.’

‘Of course he wants more for Nottingham Forest. He wouldn’t do all this if it wasn’t for wanting more.

‘He’s just saying to me, ‘Right, we want you to do the work.’ That’s the manager’s job. And he is right. It is my job, and the job of my staff and the players, to correct it and then see how far we can move it forward.’
