The retro DVDs now worth a FORTUNE – do you have one in your attic?

The retro DVDs now worth a FORTUNE – do you have one in your attic?,

The most valuable DVDs have been revealed – including one that could fetch you £750.

Experts from Pink Storage have scoured eBay to uncover the retro discs that are now worth a fortune.

Topping the list is The Real Ghostbusters Complete Collection (2008).

When this first went on sale 17 years ago, it was priced at $179.99 (£136).

But fast–forward to today, and it has skyrocketed in price – now fetching an impressive £750 on eBay.

According to Scott Evans, an expert at Pink Storage, scarcity and nostalgia are the two main reasons why DVDs are becoming collectable again.

‘If you have a rare disk in perfect condition, it can still sell for hundreds online,’ he said.

‘Before throwing away your DVDs or donating them to the charity shop, you should search the title on eBay and click on the Sold Listings tab to see what people are paying for these movies.’

The Evil Dead Trilogy Boxset (Anchor Bay release) is now worth between £200 and £400

If you have an unopened copy of 28 Days Later (2002), you could be line for a £300 payout

The storage company’s analysis found that certain editions, collector boxsets, and early print runs are the most valuable.

The Real Ghostbusters Complete Collection (2008) tops the list, followed by The Evil Dead Trilogy Boxset (Anchor Bay release), and Star Trek: The Next Generation Borg Cube Collector’s Box, which are both expected to fetch up to £400.

Next on the list is the Harry Potter Ultimate Collector’s Edition, valued at £350, ahead of 28 Days Later (2002) and Doctor Who Classic DVD Sets (BBC Limited Editions) which could both sell for up to £300.

Other retro DVDs worth a pretty penny include the Friends Complete DVD Collection (early edition tin case) and The Wicker Man (1973 special edition) – both valued at £250.

However, for your DVDs to be worth anything, they need to be unopened, have the original packaging, and be in good condition.

‘If the wrap is still on the box, the disc hasn’t been played, and the cover hasn’t faded, then collectors will pay a premium,’ Mr Evans explained.

‘That old movie you were going to donate to the charity shop has become worth hundreds.’

If you do have one of these valuable DVDs, make sure you take good care of them.

‘DVDs can warp or fade if they are kept in damp conditions or if they are exposed to sunlight,’ Mr Evans added.

‘Ideally, you will want to store the item in a cool, dry and dust-free location.’

The news comes shortly after specialists at Record Collector revealed the most valuable vinyls, CDs, and cassettes.

According to the experts, some of the most prized physical records include works by the Beatles, Michael Jackson and Coldplay.

Many are one-offs because there was something unusual about them – such as the copy of Double Fantasy John Lennon signed the day he was killed, worth $850,000.

There’s also Elvis Presley’s version of ‘My Happiness’, a one-of-a-kind 10-inch acetate record pressed in 1953, bought by Jack White for $300,000.

And who could forget the only single manufactured copy of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin by the Wu-Tang Clan, sold for $2 million in 2021?

But there’s many vinyls, CDs and cassettes released in larger (but still limited) quantities that could feasibly be lying around your or a family member’s home.

Some of these have already been bought and sold for life-changing sums of money.
