Moment police chase ends in carnage as driver smashes into parked cars

A police chase ended in carnage when a fleeing driver smashed into parked cars on a quiet residential street.

Doorbell footage captured the moment the vehicle lost control on Ancona Road in Plumstead, south-east London, in the early hours of Monday – before officers caught the driver and recovered a stash of drugs.

The video shows the car careering at high speed into a row of vehicles on the left side of the street, parked outside terraced houses, after police tried to pull it over for erratic driving.

It was just before two in the morning when residents were awoken by an almighty crash, and found outside the ‘worst collision??they have ever seen’.

The driver ploughed directly into at least three cars, including a white Fiat that was thrown metres into the air, and left six vehicles completely written off.

Seconds later, the blue light of police cars filled the street, and officers could be seen sprinting towards the scene of the crash.

Off camera, the injured driver attempted to run away but was grabbed by officers and arrested, before being taken to hospital. Class A drugs were later recovered from the car.

‘The fiat involved is my mum’s. It was the worse collision any of us have ever seen, with seven cars damaged – and six of them written off.??

‘This has never happened in this area as far as I know – it’s a horrific incident.??

‘The damage to my mum’s car was horrendous. We are still trying to overcome the shock we felt when we walked outside on the night.’

Naddia recorded a video of police inspecting the pile of twisted metal that now obstructed the road, with a cordon closing off the section.??
