Piers Morgan has revealed he has been rushed to hospital after breaking his hip in a painful fall.

The broadcaster shared the news with fans on Instagram, posting two images: one showing him lying in a hospital bed and another displaying an X-ray of his broken hip.

Mr Morgan explained that he fractured the neck of his femur after tripping on a small step inside a London hotel restaurant, with the injury so severe that it required a full hip replacement.

In the post, he wrote: ‘BREAKING NEWS.

‘2. Inside a London hotel restaurant.

‘3. Fell like a sack of spuds.

‘4. Fractured neck of femur.

The injury means Morgan is facing up to three months of restricted movement, with doctors advising against long-haul travel for at least 12 weeks as he recovers from surgery.
