Paul Anthony Kelly has come under fire online for his ‘dismissive’ response when asked which of Beyonce’s songs was his favourite at the Met Gala on Monday.
While walking the red carpet, the Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette actor was asked for his opinion on the Met co-chair’s music.
Paul, 37, responded saying: ‘I don’t know,’ he said, while shaking his head and shrugging his shoulders, ‘I’m a metal head.’
Critics have accused Paul of coming across as ‘disrespectful’ and claimed he ‘couldn’t be bothered’ to come up with an answer.
While Paul may have other taste in music, some claimed that his ‘excessive shoulder shrugs and eye rolls’ could be interpreted as disrespect towards Beyonce.
Sharing their thoughts on X about the exchange, one person suggested it was particularly ‘ignorant’ because of Beyonce’s involvement with the Met.
They said: ‘On any other year he wouldn’t have looked as ignorant as he does… Beyonce is co-chair. She’s on his invitation. No matter how he feels, he could’ve prepared an answer. Men don’t like it when they’re not the main character…

‘That’s also why men don’t recognise Beyonce as the greatest regardless of her having achieved way more than Michael Jackson. U.S. metrics by nature are about quantity but this never applies to Beyonce because it would mean the greatest is no longer a man – that’s why this man behaved that way – misogyny.’

However, not everyone saw it as a dig at Beyonce and defended Paul for having his own music taste.
They said: ‘We got to stop pretending certain artists are holy gods and have to be loved and listened to by everyone! He was completely unproblematic and professional and just answered the question honestly! Get off his a** oh my goodness’;

During the evening Paul reunited with his Love Story co-star Sarah Pigeon reunited as they both attended the event.
Sarah portrayed fashion icon Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy in the controversial FX/Hulu show, while Kelly played John F. Kennedy Jr.
While her on-screen character usually opted for muted tones, Sarah was radiant in an eye-catching dress, which was styled into a bow as the material fell down her sides.
A matching high-waisted skirt clung to her figure and she allowed her blonde locks to cascade past her shoulders in light waves.
Sarah opted for minimal accessories and added a flashy ring on her left hand for a final touch.
Paul dressed for the occasion in a pair of black trousers as well as a dark red, tailored velvet jacket and a white shirt underneath.
He additionally slipped into a pair of sleek black dress shoes and opted for a watch on his right wrist.
The actor held a smile on his face while posing for pictures while other celebrity guests made their grand arrival.

The first episode premiered on February 12 and the finale dropped the following month on March 26.
The show debuted as FX’s most streamed limited series, per Variety, and viewership grew as more episodes dropped at the time.

During an interview with Vogue, Sarah opened up about portraying Carolyn on the screen.
‘The online conversations at the beginning of the process served as a reminder of how important it was to get our portrayal of Carolyn correct. She grew even more important to me.’
She added, ‘People really, really love Carolyn, and my priority every single day on set was doing justice to her legacy.’
The actress later told the outlet what she hoped the audience took away from the series.
‘What I hope is that people feel a little closer to knowing the woman behind the clothes.’
Sarah continued, ‘She is known as this minimalist fashion icon, but I learned that she was also vivacious, funny, and had a wildness about her.’
The star’s performance in Love Story has garnered predictions that she could possibly be in the running for an Emmy nomination, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The couple first met in 1992 when he was in a relationship with Daryl Hannah.
The pair later began dating in 1994 and their romance was thrust in the public spotlight. They tied the knot during a private ceremony in September 1996 on the Georgia island of Cumberland.
Three years later, the couple as well as Lauren Bessette tragically died in a plane crash while en route to Martha’s Vineyard on July 16, 1999.
JFK Jr. had been piloting a Piper Saratoga at the time of the crash.
