Nine people rushed to hospital after ‘hazardous’ incident at school

Nine people have been rushed to hospital after a ‘hazardous’ incident at a primary school in Nottinghamshire.

Paramedics and police cars descended on Jesse Gray Primary School in West Bridgford at around 2pm on Wednesday.

East Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to a medical emergency at the school.

Paramedics and a hazardous response team were called to the scene alongside a responder from the air ambulance, a spokesperson said.

Nine pupils were then rushed to Queen’s Medical Centre.

Nottinghamshire Police said the incident is not believed to be criminal, adding that officers attended in a ‘supportive capacity’.

Local councillor Jonathan Wheeler said he had been contacted by concerned residents after around eight ambulances were seen outside the school.

He said: ‘I have spoken with the school and they have a couple of pupils who have gone to hospital for precautionary checks, the parents are aware and I won’t say more for their privacy.

‘Given the nature of messages sent and rumours out there the school are happy for me to post this update. Thank you.’
