New Year’s Eve celebrations are taking place across the world tonight as we mark the final remaining hours of 2025.
Eastern Australia and New Zealand have welcomed 2026 as cities in both countries hosted spectacular fireworks displays while smaller nations held beach parties to ring in the new year.
Celebrations in Sydney were particularly emotional as people held a minute’s silence during the height of festivities to honour the victims killed in the Bondi Beach terror attack earlier this month.
Throughout the day, the final countdown will take place in cities across Asia, Africa and Europe before Big Ben strikes at midnight to kick off the new year for the UK.
Across Britain, revellers have been told to wear extra layers when they head out to watch fireworks displays with the Met Officeissuing a snow warning for London later this week.
