Home on market for £875,000 has stunning surprise inside

A rare medieval townhouse that left house hunters in stitches due to an unusual feature in the bathroom has been crowned the UK’s most viewed house of 2025.

The four-bedroom house in Wales was so popular that it even relegated a palatial mansion in one of London’s most exclusive postcodes to second spot.

But despite being the most clicked on this year, the £875,000 property still appears to be up for sale on Rightmove nearly 12 months later.

The Grade II-listed detached family home made headlines back in January after eagled-eye viewers spotted the ‘very tacky’ feature in the listing.

But from the outside, the house in Conwy looks like any other ordinary picturesque period property.

With whitewashed walls, stained glass windows and high ceilings, the pre-Georgian residence is seemingly perfect for those who like the finer things in life.

It seems, however, the owner wanted to bring a touch of modernity to their classic cottage by fully redecorating the bathroom.

They decided they didn’t want any ordinary bathtub and instead wanted to bathe in the luxury of a high-heeled shoe.

Some have even questioned whether the oddly shaped sink is actually meant to be a coffee cup

The impressive chunky platform tub features an array of different pink tiles from dark plum to ballet slipper pink.

The bath also has several patterns of a rose-pink bow underneath and along the sides and along the sides of the glamorous shoe.

It is unclear whether the actual heel of the shoe tub has any particular use, or whether it is just there for the dramatic effect.

The bathroom has plain white walls, so it does not distract house hunters from the main attraction.

And some even questioned whether the oddly shaped sink is actually meant to be a coffee cup.

The white basin has a tall, slim base and an open handle loop where the soap dispenser sits.

A man named Kevin, from Ireland, found the bizarre property and posed it on X with the caption: ‘Think of the most incredible thing you could find in this Welsh cottage.

‘Then scroll to photo #17 to find something that your wildest imagination could not even envisage. You WILL NOT be disappointed.’

His tweet racked up more than 80,000 views, as other users commented on the unique feature.

The house has a total of three bathrooms and there is another with black patterned walls which also has a peculiarly designed sink that spans the entire wall

The kitchen is also not in keeping with the rustic medieval theme, as it is wildly different from the rest of the home

One wrote: ‘It’s very tacky. So is the bathroom in photo 18.’

Another penned: ‘It looks like it was decorated by three very different people who all felt tremendous amounts of spite towards the owner.’

A third said: ‘What on earth? Did a rogue architect sneak in there when the owners weren’t looking?

A fourth commented: ‘That was magnificently mad!!! Love it.’

It features bold cabinets in the colours of red, white, yellow, blue and black that have been colour blocked to create an 70s and 80s effect.

Dafydd Hardy, the estate agents selling the property, said the interior offers a ‘exceptional originality and preserved heritage’.

They state that the original building of the single-storey house was dated to the winter of 1441-42, ‘retaining its overall 16th century form’.

However, it was altered in the 18th century and then again between 2008 and 2015.

Dafydd Hardy stated: ‘The present owner who oversaw the undoubtedly mammoth task, had an unswerving vision and an obvious love of historic buildings and their heritage.’
