Twisted mayor Misty Roberts will spend just 90 days in jail after a judge handed her a suspended 10-year jail sentence for romping with a 16-year-old boy.
Roberts, 44, was given five years apiece on charges of indecency with a minor and carnal knowledge of a minor.
But Judge Kent Savoie decided she would only have to serve the first 90 days behind bars so long as she undergoes psychological therapy and passes random drug and alcohol tests.
The shamed city official was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, $300 is prosecution costs and must stay away from the victim and his family.
She had the option of paying a $150,000 bond to walk out of custody ahead of a possible appeal but decided against it, at least for now, her lawyer said.
‘She wants to get it over with. She doesn’t want it hanging over her head,’ attorney Adam Johnson said.
Prosecutor Charles Robinson had one last curveball for the wild case when he asked the judge to impose an immediate drug test.
He told the court he had noticed Roberts behaving ‘erratically’ at a previous hearing.

‘She had sores on her face. I got the impression she was using narcotics,’ Robinson said.
The judge refused but said he had been ‘touched’ by the tearful words of the victim’s family.
He told Roberts: ‘You have a tendency to minimize and to blame, to some extent, the victim of the crime.’
The ex-mayor was led out of the court in handcuffs and placed in a prison van still wearing her fancy high heels.
The victim didn’t attend court because he was on a school trip. His family declined to comment.
Earlier in the hearing, Roberts was accused of crying crocodile tears in court Tuesday after her victim’s mother branded her a ‘predator with hair extensions.’
She hung her head in silence as the 16-year-old’s family took turns at her sentencing hearing to label her a liar and a child abuser for bedding him at a 2024 pool party.
‘Danger doesn’t always come looking like danger. It doesn’t always look like a man with candy in a van or a stranger we tell our kids to be aware of,’ the victim’s mom said.

‘This danger came from a predator with hair extensions, high heels, Botox and other augmentations.’
She said her sports-obsessed son became withdrawn and anxious as talk of the sick tryst circulated among his schoolfriends and online.
An adult taunted the boy as a ‘mayor slayer’ during a football game. His family heard him crying out in his sleep, she added.
‘You thought so much of yourself in that bikini,’ she told Roberts, choking back sobs. ‘You knew exactly what you were doing with his mind. He was 16.
The victim’s mom blasted Roberts for lying about the sordid sex session that could earn the disgraced official up to 17 years in jail.
‘You claimed my son was the aggressor by why didn’t you run?’ Instead, you took a bathroom break and came back to mount him,’ she said.
‘She is not sorry for what she did, she is only sorry it got out.’
When it was Roberts’s turn to address the Beauregard Parish courthouse she dabbed her eyes, whimpered, and sobbed.

‘It was reckless. It was irresponsible. I wish I could do it over,’ she said, looking straight ahead but not at the victim’s mom sat feet away.
‘I can’t give the high school days back to any of those boys. I can’t take away the embarrassment that so many mean people on the internet have put them through.
‘I’m here just asking for grace and mercy and for the opportunity to do what the Lord wants me to do – to be a mom.’
The two-term mayor told the court she would never forgive herself for letting down her kids, their friends, and the people of DeRidder.
She added to audible scoffs from the packed gallery – her ex-husband Duncan Clanton sat among them: ‘I made a lot of promises to put DeRidder on the map. This isn’t the way I wanted to do it.’
Afterwards, prosecutor Charles Robinson accused the registered sex offender of faking her remorse.
‘I did not see a single tear,’ he scoffed. ‘Her face was dry.’
Adam Johnson, defending, said Roberts had suffered enough because of the ‘hang em’ atmosphere generated by social media and news reports.
During the trial, her son later testified he was not certain that was what he saw. Roberts’ daughter said in a recorded interview she saw her mother and the teen ‘on top of each other’

He asked the judge to consider the fact that the victim was two months short of 17, the age of consent in Louisiana, when the hook-up happened.
Robinson countered that a suspended sentence would be a ‘joke’ and called for the maximum sentence of 17 years.
‘She was not just some crazy mom, she was the mayor. She was in a position of trust,’ he said.
‘There’s no way an elected official can have sex with a child and not go to jail.’
Roberts – who was elected as the first female mayor of DeRidder in 2018 – was found guilty of felony charges of indecent behavior and carnal knowledge of a minor at her March retrial.

The brazen cougar was busted by her own teenage kids who peered through a crack in a window and caught a glimpse of the ‘lewd and lascivious’ romp.
Defense attorney Adam Johnson admitted a snatched photo of Roberts straddling the 16-year-old victim was a ‘real bad look’ but said there was no proof of a sex crime.
However, jurors took less than an hour to convict the blonde divorcee of violating the teen boy – who told the court: ‘While it was happening, I couldn’t feel my body.’
Roberts’s first trial had ended in a mistrial.
She was denied a third by the Louisiana Court of Appeal, paving the way for today’s 10am sentencing in front of Judge Kent Savoie at the Beauregard Parish courthouse.
Roberts was elected the first female mayor of DeRidder – population 9,800 – in 2018 and won a second term in 2022.
She was still in office when she hosted the raucous July 20, 2024, birthday bash that would bring about her unedifying fall from grace.
The reckless mom messaged her son asking what he wanted to drink before stocking the fridge with alcohol for his pals.

With the party in full swing, she began to press her butt against the boy’s best friend, stroking his torso and posing for a flirty photograph.
The court heard how the petite predator began to ‘make out’ with the intoxicated teen who was so drunk that he was later spotted throwing up.
She whispered ‘we can’t do this here’ before luring the victim away from the pool to a spare room where she exposed her breasts and pulled down his pants.
‘I was kind of dizzy,’ the boy said of the ensuing sex. ‘I had to put my hands on the couch. My eyes were just like closed.’
Roberts’s antics had not gone unnoticed by revelers who tried to peek inside the room to see what was happening.
The ex-mayor’s daughter would tell investigators that she saw the pair ‘on top of one another.’
Her brother said he saw the hookup through a crack in a window although he later admitted he couldn’t be certain.
Another youth managed to take a photo on his cell phone.
‘A lewd and lascivious picture is worth a thousand words, and that was what was uncovered,’ prosecutor Charles Robinson told jurors, showing them the sordid image.
Roberts sought shamelessly to shift blame on to the victim, urging her enraged son: ‘Go fight your friend. He’s the one who did it.’
Another witness was ordered to ‘lie ’til you die.’
The victim’s mom reached out to Roberts afterwards via text to ask: ‘So no protection. Are you on birth control?’
Roberts replied: ‘Birth control. But, it also didn’t reach that point in those few minutes to have that concern … I can assure you of that.’
A local DoorDash driver told the court, however, that he delivered emergency Plan B contraception to her home.
The shamed politician confessed to her shocked ex-husband Duncan Clanton, the father of her children.
‘I need you to deny it, please,’ she wrote to him, as rumors swirled in the southwestern Louisiana town where Clanton’s face adorns billboards promoting his insurance business.
Roberts resigned days before her August 2024 arrest for third degree rape, a charge that was switched to indecency with a child and carnal knowledge of a child, both felonies.
Her attorney blamed the ex-mayor’s repulsive behavior on her 2022 divorce, claiming it caused her to spiral.
‘It would not have happened without alcohol,’ Johnson said. ‘Trying to be the cool parent in a divorce is stupid.’
He argued that cops had failed to prove that a sex crime happened or properly scrutinize differing accounts from various youths – but jurors weren’t buying it.
Clanton, 43, has not commented on his ex-wife’s downfall but he made his feelings clear in text message exchanges filed in their long-running divorce and custody spat.
‘You really are cold blooded. Just wanted you to know what a real piece of s**t you really are,’ he wrote to her months after their split.
In August 2022 Clanton messaged again to say: ”You’re the one who f****d a cop and had an affair. You have no room to talk about morals.’
Their two children have lived with Clanton since December 2024, according to filings, and Roberts can’t see them without his permission.
That same year he begged a judge to step in when his ex-wife started dating a new man Clanton claimed was a dangerous and suicidal alcoholic.
‘I am fearful for my children’s safety because William Andrew Cronce does have access to weapons/handguns, he is bold enough to publicly voice/threaten suicide and has shown stalking behavior with the mother of my children,’ Clanton wrote in January 2024.
He didn’t need the restraining order because 38-year-old Cronce was found dead three weeks later.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
Roberts is not the only member of her family facing a lengthy incarceration for sex crimes.
Last November, her brother Brandon Lee Roberts, 40, was handed a 32-year stretch for raping two young women, one of whom was aged 13 when the abuse began.
