Netflix viewers baffled by Meghan’s comment about ‘favourite’ juice

Netflix viewers baffled by Meghan’s comment about ‘favourite’ juice,

Meghan Markle has long attributed her morning zest to drinking green juice.

The former Suits actress said in a recent interview that her day begins at around 4 am when she heads to the gym and her trainer guides her through strength training and yoga.

Yet in her chat with Bloomberg’s Emily Chang on The Circuit, Meghan said she woke up at 6.30 am and cooked a hot breakfast.

She lauded green juice as her favourite ‘natural source of energy’ and biographers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand said that Meghan never skips the first meal of the day.

Meghan said in an interview: ‘I think trying to go for coffee or things like that only end up hurting you in the end, so I like to get a really good natural source of energy like a great green juice.

‘Something that just gets right into your system is a nice pick-me-up,’ she said.

But a surprising comment Meghan made in part two of her Netflix show has left observers questioning how often she actually drinks the juice – and who makes it.

In episode six of With Love, Meghan, the Duchess is filmed in her garden picking ingredients for a green juice which she prepares for chef Clare Smyth, who catered the Sussexes’ wedding.

Meghan admitted that while she loves drinking green juice, she ‘doesn’t like the process of juicing’ because ‘it always felt really messy’.

The eight-part series, which launched on Netflix this week, features celebrity guests including Chrissy Teigen, John Legend and television personality Tan France.

In the kitchen, while chopping cucumbers, lime, orange and celery, Meghan added: ‘But then again, I haven’t done it in 20 years.’

While turning on her Hurom slow juicer, which retails for around £300, she takes a deep breath and then says, ‘Okay, technology has really changed.’

‘Hear how quiet that is? What’s happening?’ she says, laughing.

She bottles the juice with a label that says ‘Clare’s magical green juice’.

She said: ‘It’s easy to fall into the trap of rushing for a coffee when you hit that 4pm slump.

‘But if I blend some apple, kale, spinach, lemon, and ginger in my Vitamix in the morning and bring it to work, I always find that sipping on that is a much better boost than a cup of espresso.’

Meghan is not the only celebrity to have hopped on the green juice trend in recent years.

American actress Amber Heard drank green juice in a viral 2021 Instagram video where she held her newborn daughter.

In the video, she appears to be tasting a celery-based green juice and captions the post with ‘You can take the gal out of LA but you can’t take LA out of the girl’.

Elsewhere in her series, Meghan said she cooks a hot breakfast for her family most days.

‘It’s not as complicated as people think it is,’ she said.

‘It feels like a big undertaking but you’re just slicing bread, you’re dunking it in some eggs, and calling it a day.’

When questioned on this by her guest, Queer Eye’s Tan France, she elaborates on what she likes to cook.

‘Fried eggs and pancakes, but I like to do surprise pancakes for the kids, so I always put some ground flax seeds and pour some chia seeds in.

‘The ritual of breakfast is a sacred time as a family. You just take a minute of calm before the day,’ she added.

The Duchess has spoken about not filming in her own home, saying: ‘Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family, and with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!

The former Suits actress admitted that on busy days, she feeds her children frozen chicken nuggets and tater tots (mini potatoes to Brits), offering a more relatable glimpse into her approach to meal times.

The first part of With Love, Meghan, pulled in 5.3million views and was in the top five per cent of Netflix shows for the first half of 2025.

Part two has received less-than-glowing reviews, having been dubbed ‘marginally less mad but more needy’ than its predecessor.

The Daily Mail’s Liz Jones branded the new season ‘staged, fake and dull’ – but unlike other critics, she commended Meghan for being ‘genuinely earnest’.

Perhaps we can expect to see a green juice in Meghan’s As Ever line in the future.
