Golf fans stunned as receipt reveals shocking price of beer at Masters

Masters fans are in shock after a receipt showed the wild price fans are being asked to pay for a beer at the Augusta National.

Around 40,000 fans will attend the tournament every day this week to watch the best golfers in the world battle for a green jacket.

However, their experience will only be boosted by the extremely reasonable food and drink prices on offer.

And fans were particularly left shocked on social media by the cost of a beer at the venue, as one receipt shows.

A guest had purchased two Crows Nests, a craft variety exclusively made for the Masters Tournament and sold at Augusta National in a green commemorative cup, at a mere $6 (£4.46) each.

Two of the 16oz (473ml) beers, with the customary US tax added on, came to a total of $13.02 (£9.68). That is way cheaper than the prices sports fans are used to paying in stadiums around the world.

One fan wrote: ‘A beer at the Masters is cheaper than a water at most NFL stadiums’.

Another posted: ‘Still doing it right. One of the few places still valuing tradition.’

A third demanded: ‘Hey @MLB teams – just give us Masters-priced beer and concessions.’

‘Wow… those prices are excellent!’ a pleasantly surprised fan commented.

‘Augusta is the only venue in sports where the concession pricing is part of the brand. $78.75 for everything on the menu is a flex that every other stadium should study. They proved you can protect the fan experience and still print money,’ one fan added.

Others describe the prices as ‘amazing’ and Augusta as ‘a place like no other’.

The surprising price of beers on the course also comes after fans were left shocked by the cost of other concessions.

While a place in the galleries at Augusta National remains one of the most coveted tickets in sports and costs thousands of dollars, food and drink are one area where the exclusive, mysterious club prefers to keep it simple.

There are 27 items on offer this year and the entire menu would cost a patron just $78.75

There are 27 items on offer, none of which cost more than $6 (£4.46). But, in total, the entire menu would still cost a patron just $78.75 (£58.55).

The tournament has added to its menu for 2026, with a Masters candy bar now available for $2.25 (£1.67).

Iconic Augusta sandwiches – egg salad and pimento cheese – remain just $1.50 (£1.12) apiece, while others, including the Masters Club, are only $3 (£2.23).

Explaining the unique prices, former Augusta National chairman Billy Payne previously said: ‘We want the experience to not only be the best but to be affordable.

‘And we take certain things very, very seriously. Like the cost of a pimento cheese sandwich is just as important as how high the second cut (of grass) is going to be.’
