Marcus Rashford makes stance on Man United future clear

Marcus Rashford has publicly expressed his desire to extend his stay at Barcelona after helping guide the LaLiga giants to another title.

The England star scored a stunning free kick to help Barcelona to a 2-0 win over arch rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico on Sunday night as Hansi Flick’s side confirmed their status as Spanish champions.

Rashford, 28, has enjoyed a fruitful season in Catalonia after being cast aside by former Man United boss Ruben Amorim following an explosive falling out at Old Trafford.

The Manchester-born forward joined Barcelona on loan and the Spanish club have the option to secure Rashford’s services on a permanent basis this summer.

However, there is uncertainty as to whether the move will go through despite Rashford impressing Barcelona bosses, with the LaLiga club looking to renegotiate the pre-agreed £26million transfer fee when he initially made the loan move.

After Sunday’s win, Rashford told reporters he is desperate to stay at the Nou Camp.

‘I don’t know. I am not a magician, but if I was, I would stay. So we will see,’ Rashford said.

‘It’s really good. I come here to win,’ he added. ‘So this is, I want to win as many things as I can. So, this is one more to add to this.

‘Yeah, this team is a wonderful team. They’re going to win so much in the future as well. So, to be a part of that would be special. So we will see.’

Barca boss Flick expressed his delight with Rashford’s contributions – 14 goals and 14 assists – this campaign.

‘I’m very happy with Marcus,’ he said. ‘He has shown his quality and he scored an important goal. I can’t say anything about his future, we have to focus on the matches until the end of the season.’
