Man dies after falling from city centre hotel in Manchester

A man has died in Manchester after plunging from a building in the city centre. 

Officers were called on Saturday to reports that a man had fallen from the building on Charles Street at around 4pm. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

It is unclear at what height the man plummeted from, but according to the local newspaper, Manchester Evening News, the man fell from a hotel in the city centre. 

Cops have confirmed the man’s death is being treated as unexplained, and an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing. 

Pictures showed emergency services at the scene, while a blue forensic tent was put up outside the Maldron hotel. 

The road remained closed into the night, with several police vehicles and armed officers pictured at the scene.

The Maldron Hotel, on Charles Street, was evacuated with guests unable to enter the premises this afternoon, the Manchester Evening News reports. 

A Greater Manchester Police Spokesperson said: ‘At around 4pm today (Saturday 23 May 2026), we were called to reports that a man had fallen from a building on Charles Street in the city centre.

‘Sadly, a deceased man was found at the scene. 

‘Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death, which is unexplained, are currently ongoing.’
