Injuries could force Reds back into the market

Liverpool will take stock of Jeremie Frimpong’s injury before assessing whether there is a need to go into the transfer market this month.

Frimpong limped off after four minutes of the Champions League win over Qarabag and was replaced by Waturo Endo.

Asked about whether Liverpool would look to sign a solution, Slot said: ‘It always depends on, are there players available we think can help us, and if there are, can we afford them?

‘And also, will it be helpful for the longer-term future as well because our players come back from injury.

‘We have to do smart things for the near future but also the longer future.

‘Let’s first see how Jeremie is, maybe he’s not able to play Saturday, but maybe he’s able to play one or two days later.’

Liverpool evaluated the market following Conor Bradley’s season-ending knee injury at Arsenal but believe there is limited quality available.

Ibrahima Konate is expected back at the weekend while Joe Gomez who picked up a hip injury following a collision with Alisson Becker in the 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth, could be back in contention.
