Man City ink staggering £1BILLION deal extension with kit maker Puma

Manchester City have inked a deal to extend their kit partnership with Puma worth a staggering £1billion, according to reports – in what would be a major vote of confidence for the club as they continue to await the verdict on their 115 breaches of Premier League financial regulations.

The Manchester club have enjoyed an era of unprecedent success while sporting their current sponsor, who they first began working with for the 2019/20 season.

The initial 10-year-deal is thought to have been worth £65million-per-season, placing Pep Guardiola’s side among the Premier League’s highest earners.

But the deal was still some way off that signed by their crosstown rivals Manchester United, whose partnership with kit supplier adidas is thought to be worth £90m per season.

Man United’s 10-year-contract started in 2025, and will run until the 2035-36 season – but as per the newly agreed deal across the city, the sky blue side of Manchester will now earn even more from their partnership during the same period.

City’s initial deal has now been extended until 2034-35, and has been valued by outlets, including Manchester Evening News, at around £100m-a-season.

Manchester City have extended their partnership with kit supplier Puma for a hefty fee rise

During the period that the Cityzens have worn a Puma kit, they claimed their historic Treble

Man City announced the extension of the partnership with a video of the side’s finest moments in Puma’s kit, and the message that the collaboration has ‘delivered breakthrough innovation, cultural moments and commercial success, both on and off the pitch.’

The announcement also stressed the brands’ ‘shared values’.

Ferran Soriano, City Football Group’s chief executive heralded the move for having exceeded the club’s expectations.

‘We joined forces with PUMA with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond the expectations. We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons,’ Soriano said.

‘PUMA have seamlessly integrated into our organisation, and we’ve enjoyed many historic moments together, engaging fans globally. Today’s renewal and extension solidifies our relationship and projects it to an even brighter future.’

Puma were the sponsor when Man City claimed their historic Treble at the end of the 2022-23 season, as well as during their run of four consecutive Premier League titles.

Puma’s chief executive officer Arthur Hoeld added: ‘PUMA’s partnership with Manchester City has been a great success both on and off the pitch.

‘Trophies, a perfect stage for our performance products and commercial success, were exceptional.’

Puma kits are also worn by other City Football Group clubs including Melbourne City FC, Girona, Lommel, Mumbai City FC, Montevideo, Palermo, Bolivia, Bahia and ESTAC.

The kits have also been sported by Man City’s women’s side – who have won both the League Cup and FA Cup under the brand’s aegis, and youth teams.

But with the result of their case against the Premier League still in flux, the deal could be seen as a major vote of confidence for the side’s prospects.

The hearing of the breaches, which are alleged to have taken place between 2009 and 2018, concluded in December of last year.

Man City stand accused of a number of offences including failing to provide accurate details on player and manager contracts, failing to provide accurate financial information and failing to co-operate with the Premier League’s subsequent investigation. City have always denied wrongdoing.

Should they be found guilty of the more serious alleged breaches, relegation is the most severe punishment possible while the club also risk hefty fines and points deductions.

An outcome on the hearing is expected in the near future, although should Man City appeal the verdict, it could be some time longer before their sanction – if applicable – is meted out.

The manager will be keen to get back to winning ways after a rare campaign without silverware

Focus will return to Guardiola’s side’s on-pitch prospects ahead of the start of the season, with Man City close to wrapping up their extended holiday ahead of pre-season training.

The Manchester club will have a delayed return to preparations after their progress in the Club World Cup.

Man City were knocked out of the competition at the Round-of-16 stage, after the serial champions were handed a shock defeat by Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

And attention will now shift to recapturing the Premier League title after the team finished third at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
