Madonna announces sequel to beloved album and record label shakeup

Madonna turned heads with a provocative photo shoot as she dropped a double bombshell: a new record deal and a sequel to one of her most beloved albums.

The Queen of Pop, 67, announced she’s reuniting with Warner Records — the label that released some of her most iconic projects like American Life (2003), Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005), and Hard Candy (2008).

She originally split from Warner in 2007 to sign with Live Nation.

‘It feels like home with Warner Records!’ she declared on Instagram Thursday. ‘Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor Back to where it all began!’

The message came with racy images of Madonna perched on a bed in a sheer silver dress, fishnet tights, and glittery gold heels.

Along with flaunting her daring style, she revealed her next album, COADF – P. 2, is set for release in 2026.

The Queen of Pop, 67, announced she’s reuniting with Warner Records — the label that released some of her most iconic projects like American Life (2003), Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005), and Hard Candy (2008)

The upcoming dance record — still untitled — will be her first new album in seven years, after Madame X in 2019.

She’s also bringing back a familiar face, teaming once again with DJ Stuart Price, the mastermind behind the 2005 smash Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Reflecting on her career, Madonna told Variety, ‘From being a struggling artist in New York City to signing a record deal to release just three singles, it seemed at the time my world would never be the same again and in fact that couldn’t have been truer.’

‘Since the beginning, Warner Records has been a real partner with me. I am happy to be reunited and look forward to the future, making music, doing the unexpected while perhaps provoking a few needed conversations.’

Warner also made the big reveal on their own Instagram account.

‘We are honored to welcome Madonna back home to Warner Records. Madonna isn’t just an artist — she’s the blueprint, the rule-breaker, the ultimate cultural juggernaut,’ the account posted.

‘For decades, she has not only defined the sound of global pop music but also reshaped culture itself with her vision, innovation, and fearless artistry.

‘This signing represents a historic, full circle moment, one that brings her back to the label where it all began and reaffirms her unparalleled influence, setting the stage for an exciting new era of creativity and impact.’

Madonna’s journey through the music industry has been defined by both bold moves and iconic partnerships.

She first signed with Sire Records, a subsidiary of Warner Bros., in 1982, launching her career with her self-titled debut album that would make her a household name.

Over the next two decades, she cemented her status as the Queen of Pop, releasing a string of groundbreaking albums like Like a Virgin, True Blue, and Ray of Light under Warner’s umbrella.

In 2007, she left Warner for Live Nation, seeking greater creative control and a fresh approach to her touring and album releases.

Despite the split, Warner continued to be the distributor for some of her key projects, including American Life, Confessions on a Dance Floor, and Hard Candy.

Over the years, Madonna has worked with a variety of producers and labels to constantly shake up her sound — from electronic dance-floor bangers to more reflective pop ballads.

She’s also branched out on the business side, launching ventures like Maverick Records and proving she’s just as savvy behind the scenes as she is on stage.

Now, decades later, her return to Warner feels like coming full circle — back to the label that helped turn her into a global superstar.
