Liam Gallagher appears to forget his own lyrics at Oasis comeback show

Some Might Say Liam Gallagher had a hard time remembering his own lyrics during the Oasis reunion tour on Friday evening.

The singer has buried the hatchet with older brother Noel for a lucrative series of comeback shows, some 16-years after the iconic Britpop band’s implosion and subsequent split.

But after launching the 41 date Live ’25 Tour at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium over the weekend, Liam, 52, appeared to rely on a teleprompter as the reunited group performed to 74,000 anorak-clad fans.

Images of the moment capture the fiery singer casting a shadow over the device as Oasis launched into their second track of the night – legendary B-side Acquiesce.

The teleprompter may well have prevented him looking like a wonder-wally as the band brought the house down with a 23-track setlist encompassing all of their greatest hits.

Emotional Oasis fans could not hold back their tears as they finally witnessed Liam and Noel reunite on stage for the first time in 16 years.

Fans of the iconic band were blown away after the reunion tour kicked off on Friday, with the brothers delivering an electrifying set, packed with energy and nostalgia.

On Saturday night, Noel, 58, and Liam continued their display of unity as they walked out on stage holding hands again for night two.

And it was clearly all too much for some fans, who sobbed as they made their great return – with fans dubbing it the ‘dads version’ of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

In videos that have racked up hundreds of thousands of views on social media, people shared footage of their boyfriends, fathers and fiancés getting emotional.

Filming the crowd, Anais Sykes wrote, in a video that has 500,000 views on TikTok: ‘Pov, Oasis was worth it to see the Dads crying.’

One concertgoer, wearing a black bucket hat, was struggling to hold it together during Champagne Supernova, while others lifted their arms in the air in elation.

Chantelle Lydia shared a video of her fiancé crying on TikTok, writing: ‘Pov: your stood next to my fiancé at the Oasis reunion.

‘I remember when he was crying at an Oasis tribute band three years ago, saying “this is the closest I’ll ever get to seeing Oasis”. Look at you now hons.’

Meanwhile Amy Louise said she was ‘crying on the floor’, while @gamble.95 filmed every time her friend Taylor cried during their concert.

On social media, people were moved, writing: ‘This is the type of person who DESERVE oasis tickets not people who just go for the hype, people who genuinely appreciate them and it means a lot to them that they’re back together.

‘I get everyone wants to experience their gig maybe but the amount of people who adore oasis like this that have missed out is insane.’

Another added: ‘I saw them last night. I cried my heart out. Oasis are the most important band to me for many of reasons and getting to see them live was such an overwhelming experience.’

Meanwhile others said: ‘Being a teenager in the 90’s was amazing and this band was part of it’;

‘No like I totally get it, when I saw Taylor Swift I cried when she came out bc it’s not only that you’re seeing your fave but it’s all the build up and anticipation for this moment! It’s an incredible feeling to be able to experience joy and emotion like this, he’s very lucky!!’;

‘Buzzing for that generation of lads because there’s never a band like them they can’t be recreated.’

However, some spectators were less convinced, telling everyone to ‘grow up’ as the band ‘ain’t gotta clue who you are.’

On TikTok, people were moved and shared that they'd also cried at the experience

Kicking off the show, Liam and Noel walked out with their arms around each other in a sweet display of unity, before they proudly gazed on at the crowds, who erupted into rounds of deafening applause.

As the masses gathered on Friday, Liam said: ‘Manchester vibes in the area,’ before he kicked off the show with Hello, which served as the opening track for their 1995 classic ‘What’s The Story (Morning Glory).

They then went into Acquiesce – a song from their first 1995 album, which was followed by the iconic Morning Glory – the titular song of the second studio album.

Among the 75,000 cheering fans gathered at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Friday and Saturday, were a slew of famous faces, who descended upon the Welsh capital to take in what was described as a ‘monumental’ weekend for British music.

Hollywood star Sienna Miller revealed she had bagged tickets to both of the Cardiff gigs, hailing Friday’s as the ‘greatest show I’ve ever seen’.

On the Saturday, the actress joked the concert was ‘alright’, before confessing: ‘It’s the greatest show I’ve ever seen. The love and the nostalgia and the joy, it’s like saving the world.’

Meanwhile this weekend’s Oasis homecoming reunion in Manchester is set to see a rush of fans flooding to the city with trains close to being as sold out as the shows.

National outlet Trainline has seen a 20 percent increase in passengers travelling to Manchester ahead of the historic Heaton Park concerts which run until July 20 before the band move on to Wembley Stadium gigs.

Some towns and cities have sold more than double the usual number of tickets ahead of the Gallagher brothers’ first homecoming concert with data showing the biggest uplift came from those travelling to Manchester from Norwich (115 per cent increase), Leeds (107 per cent) and Aberdeen (98 per cent)..

Sarah Helppi, UK Country Director at Trainline, warned trains could soon be sold out completely.

She said: ‘If you’re joining the Oasis tour in the band’s hometown, book as soon as possible to secure a seat.’

On travelling fan, Erin Archer, said she and her Oasis fan boyfriend had booked their train tickets as soon as they knew they had landed coveted Heaton Park tickets and it was a relief now that trains are close to being full.

She said: ‘We can just look forward to the gig, enjoy the build-up, and soak up every second.’

The five sold-out Manchester dates of the Oasis Live 25 world tour will see the first reunion of feuding brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher in their hometown since 2009.

The tour ends in November in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is expected to rake in an estimated £600 million in ticket sales and other add-ons.
