Lewis Capaldi halts his gig after technical blunder derails the show

Lewis Capaldi was forced to halt his US show this week after it encountered technical difficulties.

The singer, 29, is currently on tour with his Survive show, having returned to the spotlight after taking a career hiatus in 2023 amid his battle with Tourette’s Syndrome.

Lewis kicked off the tour last September and it has continued into 2026, with performances in US cities.

However, on Wednesday night, he was forced to halt his set in Denver over technical issues at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

As his show fell silent at the open air venue, Lewis said to the packed crowd: ‘Something has happened. Usually I’d be singing by now.

‘Something technological has gone wrong. I’m not sure what the f***s happened.’

As he checked with his team to see if the issues had been resolved, Lewis joked: ‘This feels like… erectile dysfunction in a way.’

While the issues persisted, Lewis decided to keep the show going with an acoustic performance.

Despite the hiccup, fans flooded Lewis on social media with messages thanking him for a great show, writing: ‘One of the best shows I have ever seen! His pure talent was an amazing gift to the audience. Thank you for an Incredible show’;

‘One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I’ve waited for him to come back on tour and could not be happier with my whole evening’;

‘The show was amazing. So organic and everyone was laughing and supportive. Honestly one of the best shows I’ve seen’;

‘I was so thankful that there were technical difficulties!’

His tour is named after his latest EP which was released last year.

The hitmaker will head to Canada after he concludes his US dates, before performing shows in Ireland in June and then returning to the UK.

Last year Lewis claimed some stars lied about checking in on him after he retreated from the spotlight amid his devastating battle with Tourette’s.

It left him unable to finish his Glastonbury set in 2023 when the condition manifested itself in front of thousands of fans.

Lewis revealed that Elton John was one of the first people to phone him after the heart wrenching incident.

‘The day after Glastonbury Elton phoned and said it was wise to take a break. I knew he had my email but I didn’t know he had my number so he must have got it from management or something,’ he said.

Speaking on Hits Radio, the Scottish singer branded the Rocket man, 78, a ‘really cool dude’ as well as praising pal Niall Horan, 31, for his support during that difficult time.

He said: ‘Niall obviously [was in contact]. We’re in a group chat so I speak to him quite a a lot. But some people said they checked in on me but did not’.

‘I can’t name and shame, but it was bizarre… really weird.’

The Glaswegian singer made his return to music with an epic and emotional performance at Glastonbury, almost two years after he broke down on the very same stage before taking a hiatus to focus on his physical and mental health.

But after taking some time away from the limelight and the ‘pressures’ of being a star, he said that he’s now ‘doing much better’ and is no longer taking the antidepressant Sertraline.

‘I’m not on antidepressants anymore,’ Lewis – who marked his return with the new track Survive which has soared to Number 1 – told fans on a livestream.

‘It was f*****g hard to get off it. You could say I survived getting off Sertraline but let’s not get into that. This is happy stuff, I’m trying to share less.’

He later added: ‘I’ve felt the best I’ve felt in a long time through therapy.

‘I think I will always be an anxious person, accepting that’s always going to be there for me is a big thing. It’s about how I respond to anxiety.’
