Kim Kardashian left her fans in shock by revealing she had indulged in a pajama party with none other than fellow superstar Britney Spears.
The 45-year-old reality star posted two Insta Stories from the get-together, which also included her younger sister Khloe Kardashian.
Spears’ longtime close friend Cade Hudson, who is said to currently be acting as her manager, was also part of the glamorous sleepover.
While Kim struck a festive pose and pulled a pout, Spears pulled a goofily glum face and stuck her tongue out for a selfie that was apparently snapped by Hudson.
‘Calabasas Nights,’ wrote Kim over one photo, hinting that either she or Khloe had hosted the party inasmuch as the neighborhood is famed as a Kardashian enclave.
Fans were left in shock and disbelief at the celebrity crossover, to the point that some of them wondered on social media whether the photo was AI.
‘I thought it was AI… I still think it is,’ wrote one on Reddit, prompting another to reply: ‘Me too! I don’t know why people shut it down so quickly. Maybe they don’t understand how impressive AI has become at mimicking people, nor how crappy and wonky her videos are.’
However one fan pointed out an old connection between Spears and the Kardashians – back in 2012, when the pop star was a judge on The X-Factor, Khloe had also served as a host of the competition show.
‘I completely forgot Khloe and Britney did X Factor together,’ one commenter wrote on Reddit, reminding others of the link between Spears and the reality TV dynasty.
Others however brought up the Kardashian family’s social ties to Lou Taylor, Spears’ hotly controversial former business manager.
Taylor is said to have been one of the architects of the pop star’s conservatorship and thus became a target of the ire of the #FreeBritney movement, though she claims to have had ‘no role whatsoever in the creation’ of the legal arrangement.
To the delight of her fans, Spears was released in 2021 from the conservatorship, which began when her father Jamie Spears was placed in control of her life after her infamous mental breakdown in 2008.
In her memoirs, Spears wrote that prior to the conservatorship, her father ‘struck up a very close friendship with Louise “Lou” Taylor, who he worshipped.’
She added that Taylor ‘was front and center during the implementation of the conservatorship that would later allow them to control and take over my career.’
Last Saturday, Taylor was among the star-studded guest list at Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party, thrown at the Beverly Hills home of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.
One fan reacted to the photo of the Spears-Kardashian sleepover by bewailing ‘the lou taylor of it ALL,’ adding for good measure: ‘i feel so bad for Britney.’
‘Aren’t they involved with Lou Taylor who was behind the conservatorship?’ wondered another Redditor. ‘This is very dark I do not like this for Britney.’
Some fans have shared their concerns for Spears’ health since her conservatorship ended, including last year when medics were seen escorting her disheveled and partly dressed out of the Chateau Marmont in the small hours of the morning.
