Kevin Spacey headed out for a coffee in Oxford ahead of his controversial lecture there.
The actor, 66, was cleared of sexually assaulting four men in 2023 but he will face new sex assault claims from three men in a three-week High Court civil trial in 2026, which he denies.
On Monday, Spacey was seen leaving a Pret coffee shop in Oxford with a man thought to be his manager.
Spacey was all smiles as he strolled through the city before giving a lecture at The Oxford Union that evening.
The decision to invite Spacey to speak reportedly sparked outrage among students.
A post about his invite to the university read: ‘Kevin Spacey at the Oxford Union on Monday the 1st of December, 2025 at 5PM. Spacey is a two-time Academy Award winning actor known for his roles in American Beauty, the Usual Suspects, and the political drama the House Of Cards.
‘Acclaimed for his stage and screen performances, his career has included both remarkable critical success and significant controversy, sparking wider controversy about accountability and the arts.’
‘It’s as if they are looking to make controversies to keep relevant,’ one student told The Sun.
Spacey will face sex assault claims from three men in a three-week High Court civil trial in 2026.
Three men, Ruari Cannon, who has waived his right to anonymity, and two others who have not, allege the actor abused them between 2000 and 2015.
They claim to have met the Hollywood star, 66, through his position as an artistic director at the Old Vic Theatre.
All three men are taking legal action against Spacey at the High Court, meanwhile, Mr Cannon is also bringing action against the theatre.
Spacey denies the allegations, and in 2023, he was acquitted of nine sex offences relating to four men.
Elizabeth-Ann Gumbel KC, for the three men, said on Wednesday that the cases should be heard together.
In a written submission for a hearing, she added that this would mean the men and Mr Spacey would not have to give evidence more than once.
‘If the cases were heard separately, the defendant would need to give evidence in each case and be available for trial on three separate occasions,’ she said.
Days before the allegations came to light, Spacey insisted he is not homeless after recent remarks he made about ‘living in Airbnbs and hotels’ prompted the speculation.
In an Instagram video posted Sunday, he said he felt compelled to clarify the the comments after ‘thousands of people’ ‘reached out over the past few days offering me a place to stay or have just asked if I’m okay.’
‘And to all of you, I am truly touched by your generosity full stop,’ he continued.
‘But I feel it would be disingenuous to allow you to believe I am indeed homeless in the colloquial sense.’
‘I said I was basically living in hotels and Airbnbs and going where the work is, just as I did when I first started out in this business.
‘I’ve been working nearly nonstop this entire year and, for that, I have so much to be grateful for,’ Spacey also noted.
‘And there are many people, as well all know, who are indeed actually living on the streets or in their cars or are in terrible financial situations, and my heart goes out to them.’
