Katie Price defends husband after he fails to join her for interview

Katie Price appeared on Good Morning Britain by herself today after her husband Lee Andrews failed to show up for a scheduled live interview.

Lee, 42, is banned from leaving Dubai after allegedly forging his ex-girlfriend Dina Taji’s signature to secure a £200,000 loan – something he has strongly denied.

But that did not stop him from agreeing to travel to the UK for a live appearance on GMB with Katie for their first joint interview.

Addressing his absence, host Susanna Reid, 55, said: ‘This morning, we invited Katie and her new husband Lee back into GMB, the first time we met Lee in person, but he didn’t make his flight from Dubai yesterday.’

Katie, 47, said it wasn’t that Lee can’t join her, it’s just that he’s such a busy man, that he simply failed to board his flight.

She clarified: ‘Lee was supposed to be here. He failed to board a flight yesterday.’

Ed Balls started the interview by saying: ‘We asked the Foreign office if Lee had any travel ban in place and they responded saying we supported a British man who was detained in the United Arab Emirates.

‘Katie joins us now, are the Foreign office right? Did Lee get arrested at the airport?’

She said: ‘No they just said it to me there. I said, “Lee apparently a British man has been detained. Can you confirm it’s not you?”

‘I obviously know it’s not him, so he’s done a voicenote back and laughing emojis. He said, “No it’s not me” in a voicenote, he’s sent me pictures, he’s at the airport, he’s on his way.’

She told Susanna: ‘He just didn’t make the flight [to the UK on Monday].  He’s coming over here to spend a few months. He’s flying from Muscat, Oman], but he had things to do and didn’t make the flight. He’s at the airport now.’

Susanna asked Katie if Lee is ‘unreliable.’

And she replied: ‘Not to me, at all. you read everything, I want you to interrogate me, it clears it up.’

Susanna asked Katie if she trusts Lee.

Katie replied: ‘Yes, I came back on Friday. I can’t keep going to Dubai. I’ve got work and kids here. Well, he pays for it.

‘I can’t keep going back, he’s shifting over here, to spend time over here. I said, “I keep flying to you, you’ve got to come to England”.’

‘He was just busy,’ she said.  He does a lot of stuff. I believe it.’

She confirmed Lee has not yet met any of her five children.

‘He’s seen them on FaceTime,’ she said.

‘He will meet the family. The younger two, [Bunny and Jett, 11 and 12,,  it will be slowly, not suddenly, because they are young kids.

‘I don’t want to give the impression that he’s moving in, they will be slowly introduced. None of them have got a problem.

‘Princess  makes me laugh and asks him if he can buy her a Birkin? You wish, Princess!’

‘And Harvey can’t wait to meet him. He keeps doing drawings. FaceTimes him all the time when he’s in Dubai, the younger two, they are going through a lot of stuff anyway.’

Susanna asked Katie how her mother Amy is doing. She has a terminal lung condition, called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)

‘My mother is poorly,’ she said.

‘I know you’re watching, I love you so much. I am coming to see you tomorrow. she’s not well at the moment, really not well.’

Katie was also asked about reports that Lee didn’t pay for their Dubai hotel bill from when he proposed to her.

‘Ask me as many questions as you like,’ she said.

‘That was all done. if you don’t pay a bill in Dubai, they put you in jail. end off. It was just speculation from other people, that’s all I know.’

Susanna also told Katie that she was looking well after losing a lot of weight recently.

She said: ‘I’ve actually put on weight. I am lacking in iron. There was no explanation for it. I’ll be seeing a trainer four of five times a week. I want to put muscle on but I have put on weight.’

On Monday, Katie shared a video in which she received a voicenote from Lee which said that he wouldn’t be coming.

The GMB Instagram page shared a teaser for the upcoming live chat, which self-proclaimed millionaire Lee shared to his Instagram Stories, however this could not later be found on the official page.

Hours later, Katie has shared a new update in an Instagram video revealing she was ‘gutted’ because Lee had told her he ‘wasn’t coming’ to the UK, despite continuously claiming he plans to make the trip.

While shopping to prepare her home for Lee’s first visit to stay with her in the UK, Katie referenced Raye’s hit single, she penned: ‘Where The Hell Is My Husband? Lee will not be on Good Morning Britain with me!!’

She explained: ‘Well he is not coming, gutting really as he said he was coming, so I’m getting the house ready for me.

‘And the song that is playing is “Where The Hell Is My Husband” it’s quite a convenient song, baby where the hell is my husband?’

She played a voicenote of him saying: ‘I get you. Can you please just – all I’m asking is for you to be patient if you can. I know you’re worried about things.

‘I don’t want you to lose any faith with it all, please, because I am defintely following it through with everything and I am trying, OK.’

Katie tied the knot with Lee in January, just weeks after meeting, and added: ‘The wifey is alone in the UK’.

Katie last appeared on GMB for a chat with Ed and Susanna in March.

In March, Katie appeared on ITV show GMB with Ed and Susanna as she opened up about her new husband and why he hadn’t met her children yet.

On Monday, Katie and Lee shared a new edited snap of themselves together as they hit back at criticism about their whirlwind marriage.

Katie reshared a post from ‘businessman’ Lee on her Instagram stories as he addressed comments their relationship was moving ‘too fast’.

Lee wrote: ‘”You two are moving too fast”. Respectfully, NO. If anything, we’re catching up. We spent years giving our hearts to the wrong people hoping they’d love us the way we deserved.

‘Now that we’ve finally found each other? We’re not wasting another second. This isn’t fast. This is finally. And if I could’ve met her one moment sooner, I would’ve.

‘So no – we’re not rushing. We’re just not holding back.’

Alongside the defiant message, they shared a photo showing off flawless complexions and enhanced features.

Katie initially tied the knot in January just weeks after meeting, before holding a second, legal ceremony in February.

Her family were left blindsided by her whirlwind marriage to Lee.

Throughout their marriage he has been living in the UAE while Katie has travelled between the UK and Dubai.
