Katie Price defends husband after he fails to join her for interview

Katie Price appeared on Good Morning Britain by herself today after her husband Lee Andrews failed to show up for a scheduled live interview.

Lee, 42, is thought to be banned from leaving Dubai after allegedly forging his ex-girlfriend Dina Taji’s signature to secure a £200,000 loan – something he has strongly denied.

But that did not stop him from agreeing to travel to the UK for a live appearance on GMB with Katie for their first joint interview.

Addressing his absence, host Susanna Reid, 55, said: ‘This morning, we invited Katie and her new husband Lee back into GMB, the first time we met Lee in person, but he didn’t make his flight from Dubai yesterday.’

And Katie, 47, claimed that he failed to board his flight because he is such a busy man.

She clarified: ‘Because of his business, he had some things to do last minute.’

Ed Balls started the interview by saying: ‘We asked the Foreign Office if Lee had any travel ban in place and they responded saying we supported a British man who was detained in the United Arab Emirates.

‘Katie joins us now. Are the Foreign Office right? Did Lee get arrested at the airport?’

She said: ‘No, they just said it to me in there. I just said, “Lee apparently a British man has been detained. Can just you confirm it’s not you?”

‘I obviously know it’s not him, so he’s done a voicenote back and laughing emojis. He said, “No it’s not me” in a voicenote. He’s sent me pictures, he’s now at the airport, he’s on his way.’

She told the presenters: ‘He just didn’t make the flight [to the UK on Monday].  He’s coming over here to spend a few months now. He’s been sorting out my Visa, my international driving license. He’s flying from Muscat, Oman], but he had things to do and didn’t make the flight. All his business stuff is there. He’s at the airport now.’

Ed asked Katie if Lee is ‘unreliable’.

And she replied: ‘Not to me he hasn’t been, no. Not at all.

‘I want you to ask me everything, because you read everything, so I want you to interrogate me, ask whatever you want to ask, at least it clears it up then.’

Susanna then asked Katie if she trusts Lee.

Katie replied: ‘Yes, I know no one believes me. But your face says it all. I’ve been in Dubai, I only came back on Friday.

‘I can’t keep going to Dubai, I’ve got work and kids here.’

Susanna pointed out that it would be expensive to keep travelling, to which Katie replied: ‘Well, he pays for it. I can’t keep going to Dubai, so he’s shifting over here, to spend time over here now.

‘I said, “I keep flying to you, you’ve got to come to England now”.’

Susanna went on to say: ‘If the Foreign Office are saying that we supported a British man who was detained in the United Arab Emirates, and we specifically asked about him, does that raise a concern for you?’

Ed Balls said: 'We asked the Foreign Office if Lee had any travel ban in place and they responded saying we supported a British man who was detained in the United Arab Emirates. 'Katie joins us now. Are the Foreign Office right? Did Lee get arrested at the airport?'

Katie replied: ‘No, because you’ve asked the question to them. They haven’t come to you with it.

‘He wouldn’t have his phone, and he wouldn’t be at the airport. So it’s definitely not Lee.’

‘You believe that it’s not Lee?’ Susanna asked.

Katie told her: ‘I’ve just had him on FaceTime at the airport, it’s definitely not Lee.’

‘And you think the reason he didn’t get on the flight was because he was busy doing other stuff?’ Susanna asked.

Katie confirmed: ‘He does a lot of stuff. I know what he does. So, yeah, I believe it.’

She confirmed Lee has not yet met any of her five children.

‘He’s seen them on all FaceTime, he hasn’t met anyone, because he’s been in Dubai,’ she said.

‘He’s been on the phone to all my family.’

She continued: ‘Yes, he will meet the family. The younger two [Jett, 12, and Bunny, 11]. Obviously I want to [introduce him] slowly. Not suddenly [go], “Here’s Lee now!” coming into the house and that. Obviously they are young kids.

‘I don’t want to give the impression that now I have met a guy that he’s moving in. None of them have got a problem. They are all happy.

‘Princess makes me laugh because every time she’s on the phone to him she asks him, “Can you buy me a Birkin?” I’m like, “You wish, Princess!”‘

Susanna wanted to know about the rest of the family, and Katie said: ‘Harvey can’t wait to meet him.

‘He keeps doing drawings for Lee, the frog drawings, FaceTimes him all the time when he’s in Dubai, the younger two, they are going through a lot of stuff anyway.’

Susanna asked Katie how her mother Amy is doing with her terminal lung condition, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

‘My mother is poorly,’ she said.

‘I know you’re watching, I know you are unwell, I just want to say I love you so much.

‘I am coming to see you tomorrow. She’s not well at the moment, really not well. But I love you so much, Mum.’

Katie was also asked about reports that Lee didn’t pay for their Dubai hotel bill when he proposed to her.

‘Ask me as many questions as long as we have got time,’ she said.

‘Yeah, so that was all done. If you don’t pay a bill in Dubai, they put you in jail over there – end of. That has come from speculation from other people, that’s all I know.’

Susanna also told Katie that she was looking well after losing a lot of weight recently.

She said: ‘I’ve actually put on weight.’

Susanna asked: ‘Did you get an explanation from the doctors?’

‘I done my bloods, I am lacking in iron,’ Katie explained.

‘There was no explanation for it. But I start tomorrow, with a trainer, four of five times a week. I want to not bulk up, but put some muscle on. I have actually put on weight.’

The GMB Instagram page shared a teaser for the upcoming live chat yesterday, which self-proclaimed millionaire Lee also posted. This, however, could not be found later on.

And hours after the post, Katie shared a new update in an Instagram video revealing she was ‘gutted’ because Lee had told her he ‘wasn’t coming’ to the UK.

While shopping to prepare her home for Lee’s first visit to stay with her in the UK, Katie referenced Raye’s hit single, she penned: ‘Where The Hell Is My Husband? Lee will not be on Good Morning Britain with me!!’

She explained: ‘He is not coming, gutting really as he said he was coming, so I’m getting the house ready for me.

‘And the song that is playing is “Where The Hell Is My Husband”. It’s quite a convenient song. Baby, where the hell is my husband?’

She played a voicenote of him saying: ‘I get you. Can you please just – all I’m asking is for you to be patient if you can. I know you’re worried about things.

‘I don’t want you to lose any faith with it all, please, because I am defintely following it through with everything and I am trying, OK.’

Katie last appeared on GMB for a chat with Ed and Susanna in March.

She tied the knot with Lee in January – just weeks after meeting – before holding a second, legal ceremony in February.

Her family were left blindsided by her whirlwind marriage.

Throughout their marriage he has been living in the UAE while Katie has travelled between the UK and Dubai.
