Joanne McNally has an emotional reunion with her biological dad

  • Have YOU got a story? Email: tips@dailymail.co.uk

Joanne McNally had an emotional reunion with her biological father Kevin and her four half brothers in Australia.

The comedian, 42, who was adopted when she was just three-months-old, took to Instagram on Sunday to share snaps of the family get-together.

Joanne visited Melbourne for the comedy festival and used the opportunity to meet up with her dad and siblings.

She captioned the post: ‘One of the major benefits of coming to Melbourne for the comedy fest is getting to see my birth father and all the half brothers who all live here  adoption is wild … very lucky to have such sound biologicals.. Adopt don’t shop’.

The Saturdays singer Una Healy commented: ‘This is just wonderful’ while others said the comedian and her half brother in the white T-shirt looked like twins.

Fans wrote: ‘The way you and the brother in white are actual twins!!!! I couldn’t love this more’ and ‘You and white T brother are the spits, this is so lovely’.

Joanne even commented on their uncanny resemblance as she replied: ‘I know! Mad’.

Joanne was born in County Roscommon, Ireland, and adopted when she was a baby by a couple called Pat and Frank from Dublin.

Pat was a nurse, Frank a draughtsman (Joanne also has a younger adopted brother, Conor). Her adopted father Frank tragically died, after a long illness and then a heart attack, when she was 15.

Meanwhile, Joanne’s biological father Kevin left Ireland for Australia, where he married and went on to have four sons. He flew from Melbourne to Dublin to meet his daughter for the first time at a pub in 2018. Joanne keeps the identity of her biological mother private.

The comedian said she always knew she was adopted.

Joanne exclusively told the Daily Mail last month: ‘I’ve met other people who are adopted, who have always struggled with it. I never have. I really never have. Now, maybe I’ve buried it. Or maybe I handle it by tap dancing and looking for validation on stage. I don’t know.’ You can read more here.

Joanne co-hosts the podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me with best friend Vogue Williams and is a regular on British and Irish TV.

She has appeared on programmes such as Taskmaster (finishing second in Series 17), The Big Fat Quiz of Everything, and The Jonathan Ross Show.

Back in February it was reported she was being lined up for the second series of Celebrity Traitors.

A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Joanne has a popular podcast and a substantial social media following, which will appeal to the younger viewers who, at one time, wouldn’t be religiously watching a mainstream show on the BBC.

‘But people like Joanne are the bridge between old and new media. Plus, she’s hilarious, with a sense of humour based on the fact she’s a single woman navigating the dating world – something which also appeals to a younger market.’

Daily Mail contacted Joanne’s representatives for comment.
