She has had her fair share of heartbreak over the years.
But Jemima Goldsmith has found love again – with a multi-millionaire smart meter and software investor she has been dating for just over a year, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
The 52-year-old award-winning screenwriter and documentary producer is engaged to Cameron O’Reilly, 62, an Irish-Australian financier who is the son of Sir Anthony O’Reilly, the late media magnate and international rugby star.
The father of four is understood to have met Jemima in his role as an executive producer on several documentaries and films.
Friends say the pair, who divide their time between his home in Switzerland and her home in West London, are ‘very happy together’.
One told this newspaper: ‘They first met through work and were friends for a while before that. They have been together as a couple for just over a year. He’s a very private person and Jemima is determined to protect that.’

It is understood that many of Jemima’s family, including her brother Robin Birley, owner of London club 5 Hertford Street, have met Mr O’Reilly and get on very well with him.
The Oxford graduate spent a decade working in his father’s media empire, Independent News & Media, and later the Australian group APN News & Media before stepping down as chief executive in 2000.
In 2003, he launched private equity fund Bayard Capital, buying the Swiss metering company Landis+Gyr. He served as chief executive before selling it to Toshiba for $2.3 billion in 2011.
Friends are hopeful that the engagement could be the start of a settled new chapter for Jemima, especially because of their shared interest in documentary-making.
Her credits include production of the 2018 documentary series The Clinton Affair and the Emmy-nominated docuseries, The Case Against Adnan Syed.
Her screenplay for the 2022 romantic comedy What’s Love Got To Do With It? won multiple awards.
Jemima, the daughter of the late billionaire financier Sir James Goldsmith, is currently campaigning for her ex-husband Imran Khan, the father of her two sons, Kasim and Sulaiman, to be released from prison in Pakistan.
The ex-cricketer turned politician was jailed in 2023 for corruption and remains behind bars after receiving further sentences in December last year in cases that he says are politically motivated.
What do you think Jemima’s high-profile relationships say about love and privilege in the public eye?

The UN has ruled that his arrest is an ‘arbitrary detention in violation of international law’.
The couple – who married when Jemima was 21 and Khan 42 – announced they were divorcing after nine years together in 2004. A statement at the time by Khan said that his ‘political life made it difficult for [Jemima] to adapt to life in Pakistan’.
She went on to have high-profile romances with actor Hugh Grant and comedian Russell Brand and has also been linked to New York literary agent Luke Janklow and The Crown writer Peter Morgan.
News of her engagement comes six months after the death of her mother, Lady Annabel Goldsmith, at the age of 91 in October last year.
In March, Jemima was fined £1,000 when she failed to respond to police letters after a vehicle registered in her name was caught speeding in North London.
She blamed major renovation work on her £10million Kensington home for her delayed response.
