Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez make their debut as honorary co-chairs at this year’s Met Gala on Monday, but the honor hasn’t come without a hefty price.
The high-flying power couple allegedly paid $10 million for the privilege to hobnob with former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, along with a long list of other stars, including Beyonce, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams, according to Page Six.
Sources claimed to the outlet that the move has put Bezos, 62, and Sanchez, 56, in favor with Wintour, 76, who uses the high-profile event to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, which she has spearheaded since 1995.
The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Bezos, Sanchez and Wintour for comment.
‘The Bezoses are where the American dream is at right now for status, wealth and style,’ William Norwich, a former editor at Vogue, explained to Page Six.
‘They display conspicuous consumption [and] they have the “AWOK” – the Anna Wintour OK.’

This year’s gala, which carries the theme ‘Costume Art,’ has the couple’s names on the invites.
Some fashion watchers see this quid pro quo aspect – giving something to receive something – as a stain on the whole affair, which used to focus on philanthropy but has turned into a celebrity spectacle.
‘I’m heartbroken,’ said one frequent Met Gala attendee. ‘It’s being able to buy yourself into [the good graces of] Anna and the Met.’

Sanchez famously flaunted her June nuptials to the billionaire Amazon founder on the digital cover of Vogue, which supposedly earned her another nod from Wintour.
Earlier this year, the fashion icon stepped down as editor-in-chief of American Vogue, passing the torch to Chloe Malle, the daughter of Candice Bergen and late French filmmaker Louis Malle.

On Tuesday, Sanchez and Bezos attended a formal state dinner at the White House in honor of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Sanchez wore a black gown with a plunging neckline, and she was reportedly dripping in 200 carats of emeralds.
Meanwhile, the former journalist recently revealed she would have a baby with Bezos ‘tomorrow’ if she could.
The two have seven children between them, but Sanchez would love to expand their blended family even more.
‘I would have a baby tomorrow,’ she told The New York Times.
Sanchez’s spokesperson subsequently clarified that the one-time news anchor – who has Nikko, 25, with former partner Tony Gonzales and Evan, 19, and Ella, 18, with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell – is not expecting another child.
Sanchez hailed Bezos as her ‘best friend’ and knows she can talk to him about anything, telling the publication: ‘I talk about everything with him. Everything! Jeff is my best friend, and I don’t say that lightly,’ she said, adding, ‘He looks good, doesn’t he? He looks good.’
